Patent number: 8077037Abstract: A security system for portable articles is provided. The security system includes a central unit and one or more remote units. Each remote unit has a tethering system which attaches one or more portable articles to the remote unit. When a portable article is detached from the remote unit, a remote alarm signal is generated, which is conveyed to the central unit via a radiofrequency transmission. The central unit confirms receipt of an alarm transmission, and activates a dialer, which contacts one or more individuals via telephone.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2007Date of Patent: December 13, 2011Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma

Publication number: 20110095893Abstract: A theft-deterring security apparatus for articles with handles is described. The apparatus consists of a bracket that substantially surrounds an article handle and a locking body into which the bracket is telescopically inserted, to in turn compress both the bracket and the locking body about the article handle so as to be releasably fastened thereto. Fastening devices, such as a threaded screw and nut, are used to initiate and maintain compression of the bracket and locking body about the article handle. The bracket is shaped to accommodate different types of article handles. The bracket may be hinged to accommodate the insertion of article handles into the bracket periphery. The apparatus is further equipped with an electronic article surveillance element capable of setting off an alarm if an attempt is made to remove the article from the store. Alternatively, a pair of locking body elements surrounds a knob on an article handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2009Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma

Patent number: 7880605Abstract: A security system and method of monitoring a portable device. The security system has a first sensor, a controller, and an alarm signal generator. The controller is capable of detecting that the first sensor, with the security system in an armed state, has changed from the secured state, and as an incident thereof, causing a signal to be generated by the alarm signal generator. The controller and first sensor are configured so that under certain conditions the first sensor must be changed from the unsecured state into the secured state and maintained in the secured state for a predetermined time period before the controller, first sensor and alarm signal generator can thereafter interact to produce a detectable signal in the event of a security breach.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2008Date of Patent: February 1, 2011Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma

Patent number: 7798826Abstract: The combination of an electronic device and a security system for monitoring the electronic device with the security system in an operative state with respect to the electronic device. The electronic device has a port with a connector assembly through which an electrical path to the electronic device can be established and at least a first threaded opening. The security system has a housing and at least a first fastener that can be directed into the at least first threaded opening and changed from a pre-assembly position into a secured position to thereby maintain the housing in an operative position on the electronic device. At least one component is directed into the housing to block access to the at least first fastener as might allow changing of the at least first fastener from the secured position into the pre-assembly position. The housing is securable relative to a support to confine movement of the electronic device relative to the support.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2006Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventor: Roger Leyden

Patent number: 7752800Abstract: The combination of a fishing reel support, a fishing reel, and a security assembly. The fishing reel support has a graspable body with a fishing reel mounting assembly. The fishing reel has a frame with an operating mechanism on the frame. The frame has a mounting stem and a mounting foot including first and second foot portions projecting generally oppositely away from the mounting stem. The security assembly prevents the fishing reel from being separated from the fishing reel support. The security assembly consists of first and second strap components that are joined to each other. A first foot portion is captive between the first strap component and the fishing reel support, with the second foot portion captive between the second strap component and the fishing reel support. The security assembly has a secured state and cooperates with the fishing reel support so that the fishing reel and security assembly cannot be separated from the fishing reel support with the security assembly in the secured state.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2005Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Kris Michael Southerland

Patent number: 7628551Abstract: A security surveillance system having a support, a surveillance device mounted on the support, and a cover assembly. The cover assembly is movable selectively relative to the support between an access state and an operative state. In the access state, at least a first operating state of the surveillance device can be changed by an operator at or in the vicinity of the surveillance device. In the operative state, the cover assembly blocks access by an operator. The cover assembly has a first component and the support has a second component. The first and second components are mutually attracted to each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2006Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma

Patent number: 7570162Abstract: A security system having a control and a sensor attachable to an article to be monitored. The sensor has a plurality of different states, among which are an armed state and a breached state. The sensor and control interact so that the control causes a detectable signal to be generated as an incident of the sensor being changed from the armed state into the breached state. The sensor has a housing with a wall structure bounding a cavity. The sensor further has a source of illumination that projects light. The wall structure has a light transmissive portion through which light from the illumination source projects from within the cavity to be visible externally of the wall structure.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2007Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma, Kris Michael Southerland

Patent number: 7540451Abstract: The combination of a portable component, a cable attaching assembly, and a cable. The component has a wall with oppositely facing inside and outside surfaces and an opening. The cable attaching assembly has an anchor element with first and second transverse legs. The first leg is directed into the opening in a first direction into a first position with the anchor element in a first orientation. The anchor element is changed from the first orientation, with the anchor element in the first position, to place the anchor element in an operative position, wherein the first leg is situated in confronting relationship with the inside of the wall. The cable is connected to the anchor element so that the anchor element cannot be reoriented from the operative position to allow the anchor element to be withdrawn from the opening. The anchor element is the only component required in the opening.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2006Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Terrance Surma

Patent number: 7445175Abstract: An apparatus for drawing a flexible cord into a wrapped configuration around a reel. The apparatus has a housing and a reel that is movable around a first axis relative to the housing. The apparatus further includes a spring system through which a rotational force is exerted on the reel tending to rotate the reel around the first axis to thereby cause a flexible cord associated with the reel, that is drawn away from the housing by turning of the reel in one direction around the first axis, to be wrapped around the reel by turning of the reel oppositely to the one direction around the first axis. The spring system permits a user to selectively vary at least one of a) the nature and b) the magnitude of the rotational force exerted on the reel.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2005Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Se-Kure Controls, Inc.Inventors: Roger Leyden, Kris Michael Southerland
