  • Patent number: 5009852
Abstract: The fluidizing grid of the invention is essentially constituted by pipes (18) forming the diverging walls of the openings (17) through which the fluidizing air is blown. These pipes have a cooling liquid (water) flowing therealong, which water then flows through the heat exchange tubes of the boiler.

  • Patent number: 4628831
Abstract: Hearth and process for the fluidized bed treatment of a fuel consisting of solid particles. The grid (1) for conveying gaseous fluidization and/or forcing fluid to a treatment chamber (2) comprises two separately supplied circuits of channels, respectively a first circuit of channels (11) with orifices widened towards the top, for the fluidization of a particulate material, and a second circuit of tubular channels (14), opening out above widened orifices, for forcing the particulate material.

  • Patent number: 4627387
Abstract: A fluidized-bed apparatus with a heat exchanger and an additional-air blowing network. The heat exchanger comprises upright tubes extending from a lower header which is slightly inclined to the horizontal, to an upper header. The lower header consists of an internal duct which is connected to the tubes and an external duct which has blowing nozzles and is connected to an additional-air supply line in order to alter the height of the bed in which the upright tubes are immersed.

  • Patent number: 4606896
Abstract: Apparatus for supplying gas to a fluidization grid which has two separate supply circuits, one for compressed air and one for fluidizing air, the orifices of each circuit ending at the pyramids of the grid. The orifices of each circuit, are arranged in groups, and are connected by pipes to a stator cylinder in which a rotatable rotor tube extends. A motor is arranged to rotate the rotor tube to a number of predetermined positions. The rotor tube is connected to a supply pipework and is pierced with passage openings which are arranged upon rotation of the rotor tube to correspond to the pipes.

  • Patent number: 4382777
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for modifying the properties of a swelling coal, to an installation for carrying out the process and to a chamber for treatment by fluidization and crushing. A percussion-type crusher is installed in a fluidization chamber at about 1 meter above the zone of connection between a duct for conveying coal by pneumatic transport and the chamber. A combustion chamber produces gases for transport and fluidization, having an oxygen content of at least 10%.

  • Patent number: 4344769
Abstract: In the pre-heating of coal the coal is entrained and/or fluidized in a heat exchange chamber by a heat-transfer gas which pneumatically conveys the coal from the chamber through a duct to a separator in which the coal is separated from gas. A hydrocarbon binder in a liquid state is injected into the coal in the duct through which the coal is being pneumatically conveyed by the gas to the separator.

  • Patent number: 4338160
Abstract: A plant for pre-heating by fluidizing and for milling coking coal in a treatment chamber is combined, by means of heat a exchanger interposed in a circuit for recirculating heat-conveying gas, with a plant for the dry quenching of hot coke in a quenching chamber. The flow, through the heat exchanger, of recycled quenching fumes of the coke is regulated in dependence on the rate at which the coal is introduced into the treatment chamber by a screw conveyor. An auxiliary heat combustion chamber permits precise control of the temperature in the treatment chamber.

  • Patent number: 4321032
Abstract: A process and an installation for the treatment of combustible granular or pulverulent material by drying and/or heating is disclosed. In one installation discharge gases are separated from dust in an electrostatic dust remover. Gases which have been partially recycled are divided between a direct recycling line and a path including the dust remover and a further duct so that the appropriate amount of gas is subject to dust removal to provide a desired throughput of gas. The dust captured by the dust remover is trapped in a hot liquid hydrocarbon and then used as a supplementary hydrocarbon binder.

  • Patent number: 4174947
Abstract: Coking coal is preheated in a fluidization chamber which houses a rotary percussion grinder and into the bottom of which a vertical pipe leads from a combustion chamber. Coal is introduced into the pipe and is entrained by gas in the pipe which gas subsequently acts as fluidization agent in the fluidization chamber. A main burner and an auxiliary burner in the combustion chamber are regulated by regulating the supply of combustion air so that the gas in the pipe is substantially neutral, and regulating the fuel supply in dependence on the temperature in the fluidization chamber. Preheated ground coal entrained in gas is led from the top of the fluidization chamber, and gas is recycled to the combustion chamber in an amount so that the speed of total gas flow in the fluidized coal is constant.
