  • Publication number: 20110028580
Abstract: The present disclosure provides embodiments of aqueous compositions comprising a dispersed polymer for preparing a carpet backing, methods for producing a carpet product, and methods for preparing a polymer-backed carpet. The aqueous composition can be prepared by polymerizing monomers including at least 50 percent by weight of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of alkyl acrylates and alkyl methacrylates having at least 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl. at least 30 percent by weight of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of styrene and alkyl acrylates and alkyl methacrylates having not more than 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl, less than 3 percent by weight of a hydroxyalkyl acrylate, and a copolymerizable acid in an amount up to 5 percent by weight.
