  • Patent number: 9841052
Abstract: An assembly is described for reducing the moment from a deflected shaft. A shaft includes a shaft body and an outer shaft surface. A bearing includes an inner race engaging the shaft, the inner race including an inner race surface and a race body with axial edges. When the shaft body or a portion of the bearing is deflected from a nominal axis of relative rotation, the shaft body applies a force to the bearing at an axially outermost location that is axially inward from at least one of the axial edges of the race body. Accordingly, an effective line of action of the force is applied at a location that is axially removed from the at least one of the axial edges of the race body towards a central plane of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5426928
Abstract: A large round baler is equipped with a pickup having a reel provided with fixed tooth bars to which are mounted a plurality of teeth having tines projecting approximately radially outwardly from the axis of rotation of the reel. The fixed tines cooperate with the upper surface of a stripper assembly to convey crop directly into the inlet of a baling chamber and against an upwardly moving surface of a run of belts defining a rear wall of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5427192
Abstract: An implement is coupled for being driven and towed by a tractor. A pedestal shaft is slidably mounted to the tongue of the implement and is coupled to the tractor PTO by a telescopic shaft which during turning and certain rolling and or pitching conditions of the tractor acts to cause rearward shifting of the pedestal shaft from a normal operating position. A spring assembly resists the rearward movement of the pedestal shaft and returns it to its normal position once the condition which caused its rearward movement no longer exists.

  • Patent number: 5394682
Abstract: A large round baler has a pickup including a tined reel mounted beneath an inlet at the bottom of an expansible baling chamber for picking up windrowed crop and delivering it into the inlet. The teeth of the tined reel are constructed so as to be in the neighborhood of at least two times stiffer than conventional teeth for the purpose of enhancing bale starting and diminishing plugging by effecting a constant smooth delivery of crop to the baling chamber. An embodiment is disclosed wherein ultra-stiff teeth, teeth which are so stiff as to be virtually inflexible, are used at selected areas across the width of the reel together with the stiff teeth.

  • Patent number: 4697402
Abstract: A drive roll drive of a wrap material feed mechanism is driven at a peripheral speed a desired percentage slower than the peripheral speed of a bale being wrapped whereby the drive rolls function also in the manner of a drag brake so that the wrap material is applied under tension to the bale being wrapped. A spreader roll is located between a supply roll of wrap material and one of the drive rolls and is so positioned relative thereto that the wrap material engages a substantial portion of the perimeter of the drive roll, such engagement diminishing the tendency of the tensioned wrap material to slip through the drive rolls. In an alternate embodiment, a wrap material monitoring device in the form of a spreader roll rotation sensing device is provided for signalling an operator both of the depletion of the supply of wrap material and of the unwanted dispensing of wrap material.

  • Patent number: 4446684
Abstract: A baler for forming cylindrical bales is comprised of a bale forming chamber having a downwardly facing opening. A pickup is pivotably mounted to the frame of the baler for movement through a range of vertical positions, and transversely extends between the sidewalls of the baler below the opening. Flare sheets are mounted on each side of the pickup for aiding in feeding and guiding of crop into the bale forming chamber by the pickup. The pickup is mounted pivotably to the frame of the baler adjacent to the rear of the opening. Each flare sheet is mounted to the frame of the baler adjacent to the front of the opening in a guide slot which permits the flare sheet to be pivotably and slidably moved back and forth therein. The flare sheets and the pickup are mounted together for conjoint movement through the range of positions by mounting each flare sheet at respective ends of the pickup reel.
