  • Patent number: 8980365
Abstract: A method of protecting a biologically active substance against denaturation, wherein a liquid (14) containing the active substance and a matrix-forming substance are deposited on a target surface (18) and dried so as to form a solid amorphous matrix (26) with the molecules of the active substance embedded therein, wherein an ink jet printer (10) is used for depositing the liquid (14) on the target surface (16) in the form of droplets (12) having a volume small enough to cause the liquid to dry when it impinges on the target surface (16) and to be held on the target surface through adhesion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 2012
Date of Patent: March 17, 2015

  • Patent number: 8516714
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method for lyophilizing particles comprising frozen liquid having a pharmaceutical compound contained therein, comprising providing a heat conducting container having a bottom and side walls, filling the container with a bed of the particles, the bed comprising multiple layers of the particles and having an aspect ratio of not less than 1, providing a heat source above a top layer of the particles, the heat source having a surface directed to a top layer of the bed, which surface has an emissivity coefficient of at least 0.4, subjecting the particles filled in the container to a reduced pressure, heating at least the bottom of the container and the said surface to provide heat to the particles to support sublimation of the frozen liquid at the reduced pressure, and after the frozen liquid is sublimated, stopping the provision of heat to the particles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 20, 2009
Date of Patent: August 27, 2013
    Assignee: Intervet International B.V.

  • Publication number: 20100260795
Abstract: The invention pertains to a carrier particle comprising a hydrophilic phase containing a micro-organism and/or subunit thereof, the hydrophilic phase being dispersed in a hydrophobic continuous phase being solid at room temperature, wherein the hydrophobic phase is constituted to undergo a solid-to-liquid conversion at a temperature above room temperature, the conversion comprising a first order transition. The invention also pertains to a pharmaceutical composition comprising said particles, a method for preparation the pharmaceutical composition and the use of this composition in the treatment of an animal.
