  • Patent number: 4788396
Abstract: An electrode composed of a mixture of electrochemically active particles and metal powder compressed onto a metal foil strip can be inductively sintered without localized overheating by passing the coated strip through a hairpin-shaped inductor provided with widened portions facing the edge regions of the strip, so as to locally increase the cross section of the hairpin in the portions of the hairpin that are opposed to the edge regions of the electrode strip. This arrangement counteracts the tendency of the edge regions to overheat and thermally damage the active material.

  • Patent number: 4729422
Abstract: The process and apparatus according to the invention concern continuous casting of hollow bodies of metals such as aluminum, copper, steels of all types, or other metals or alloys. The process comprises introducing the liquid metal into an annular space between an outer mold and an inner mandrel, the liquid metal being subjected in the vicinity of the mandrel to the action of a movable magnetic field which entrains it in an upward direction. The magnetic field is preferably generated by a magnetic rotor which is disposed in the mandrel. The process is used in particular for producing blanks intended for the production of non-welded pipes and tubes.

  • Patent number: 4614225
Abstract: The process and the device according to the invention relate to the continuous casting of hollow bodies made of metals such as aluminum, copper, steels of all types or other metals or alloys. The process involves introducing the liquid metal into an annular space between an external mold and an internal mandrel, the liquid metal being subjected in the vicinity of the mandrel to the action of a moving magnetic field which drives it upward. This field is created by a magnetic rotor housed in the mandrel comprising a rotating part around which is arranged at least one spiral made of magnetized magnetic material made integral with the rotor by at least one collar. The process is applied, in particular, to the production of blanks intended for the manufacture of seamless tubes.

  • Patent number: 4266151
Abstract: A monolithically integrated MOS-circuit with a substrate bias voltage generator is disclosed. A generator, a control loop, a threshold voltage detector, and a pump circuit are provided. An acceleration of the regulation of the substrate bias voltage is achieved wherein the output signal of an oscillator is connected to the Reset or Set input of a RS flip-flop. The two outputs of the flip-flop are applied in common to the substrate of the MOS-circuit via a respective pump circuit. A control loop with the threshold voltage detector serving for the regulation of the substrate bias voltage controls the flip onset via an additional input of the flip-flop and, thus, the substrate bias voltage.
