  • Patent number: 4951402
Abstract: A manipulation element for closing and latching a rear spoiler of boot on the leg of a skier. The manipulation element is journaled on the rear spoiler so that journalling of this element tensions a cable which closes the spoiler on the leg of the skier. The manipulation element comprises a U-shaped lever having an open space therein adapted to receive a second manipulation element which can, for example, lock the heel of the foot in the boot. In this way, two manipulation elements can be positioned on the dorsal zone of the spoiler. In another embodiment, the manipulation element includes two lateral ribs, each having a groove extending along the length of the rib for engaging and protecting the cable.

  • Patent number: 4712315
Abstract: Device for controlling the flexion stiffness of a ski boot comprising a shell base (1) and an upper composed at least of a cuff (3). The device comprises a flexion element (9) arranged in a longitudinal direction between the shell base (1) and the cuff (3) attached (10) at one end on the shell base (1) or the cuff (3) and whose other end cooperates in movable contact with a ramp (11) carried by the cuff (3) or the shell base (1), respectively. A device (15) permits the flexion element (9) to be tightened in an adjustable manner in order to charge its change its characteristics, so as to adjust the stiffness of the articulation (5) of the cuff (3) on the shell base (1) and its progressivity as a function of the wishes of the skier and the actual conditions encountered in the run.

  • Patent number: 4577420
Abstract: A ski boot having an upper which is partially journalled on a shell base. The upper includes a front and rear portion. The front portion or cuff is adapted to flex forward with respect to the shell base. Also provided is a control means for controlling the rigidity and flexional characteristics of the boot. The control means includes a flexion band having an arch which extends over the instep of the boot, and also includes two substantially horizontal lateral arms each attached to one end of the arch and extending over each lateral side of the shell base. Each lateral arm is connected to the bottom front portion of the cuff. The arch comprises a first deformation zone and the two lateral arms comprise second deformation zones. The flexion band also includes a means for maintaining a portion of the flexion band in a fixed position with respect the shell base. This means is positioned substantially in a zone in which the arch is connected to each lateral arm.

  • Patent number: 4575957
Abstract: Ski boot of the rear entry type, comprising an upper constituted by a forward cuff (4) solid with the shell (2) of the boot and open to the rear, and by a rear hood (9) swingable about two axes (8) of articulation located on either side of the lower part of the shell, these two elements being assembled to one another by a single hook located in the vicinity of the top end of the upper. The rear hood (9) is in two parts, viz., an upper channel-shaped part (9b) to be inserted into the interior of the cuff (4) between the edges (7) of the latter, and a yoke-shaped lower part (9a), covering the lower portion of these edges (7) and fixed for pivoting movement outside the cuff (4) on the two axes (8) of articulation, the join (11) between these two parts straddling, on each side, the corresponding edge of the cuff.

  • Patent number: 4561196
Abstract: A ski boot has a rigid base shell which is adapted to surround the foot of a skier and an upper adapted to surround the bottom of the leg of the skier. The upper is journalled along a first axis on said shell base and comprises at least two portions, one of which is in the form of a distribution plate journalled to the front cuff portion of the upper along a second, distinct axis. The distribution plate distributes the contact pressure which is normally created between the leg of the skier and the front upper edge of the cuff over a front upper zone of the cuff to enhance the comfort of the skier. The distribution plate helps to compensate for the difference in the angle of movement of the leg of a skier and of the upper when the skier exerts a forward flexion force while skiing.

  • Patent number: 4555830
Abstract: A device for progressively adjusting the relative positions of two elements, comprising a rack (5), a control knob (4) rotatably mounted on a support (3) above the rack and having its lower face turned toward the latter, a spiral rib (15) centered on the rotational axis (xx') of the control knob and the spiral rib, which axis is inclined with respect to the plane of the rack. The device is applicable to the tightening of ski boots.

  • Patent number: 4551933
Abstract: A rear-entry type ski boot having an upper including a front cuff and a rear spoiler. The upper is at least partially journalled on a rigid shell base for latching the cuff and spoiler around the leg of the skier. Also provided is means for automatically closing the spoiler in response to forward flexion of the cuff. This closing means includes an elastic system for biasing the spoiler toward the cuff, a retention means for selectively blocking the spoiler from closing on the cuff under the influence of the elastic system, and relay means for relaying the forward flexion of the cuff to the retention means. When the foot of the skier flexes forward, the relay means moves the retention means out of its blocking position so that the spoiler can freely move forward to close on the cuff under the influence of the elastic system.
