    Abstract: A universal cam unit for use in a power press comprising a driver assembly, a slide block to which the working tool is mounted, and a mounting bracket for coupling the slide block to the ram for movement therewith. The slide block is slidably mounted to move between a retracted and an extended position. The slide block and the driver assembly include parallel inclined bearing surfaces which abut when the pressure pad and the ram are lowered. As the ram motion continues, the inclined bearing surfaces slide against each other thereby causing the slide block to move from the retracted to the extended position. The movement of the slide block brings the tool into engagement with a workpiece disposed between the pressure pad unit and the lower die to perform a desired operation. The components of the universal cam unit may be disassembled and selectively replaced, so that the unit may be quickly and easily adapted for use in a desired application.

    Abstract: An adjustable aerial cam unit for use in a power press comprising a stationary driver assembly coupled to the press bed, a slide block to which the working tool is mounted, and means for coupling the slide block to the ram of the power press for movement therewith. The slide block is slidably mounted at an angle relative to the plane of movement of the ram to move between extended and retracted positions. The slide block includes a lower inclined bearing surface and the driver assembly an upper inclined bearing surface, so that when the pressure pad and the ram are lowered, the slide block will abut the driver assembly, and the inclined bearing surfaces slide against each other. As the ram motion continues, the slide block moves from the extended to the retracted position with respect to the ram.

    Abstract: A security and alarm apparatus has a pulse width discriminator circuit which includes: a monostable multivibrator having a trigger input connected to a data input of a flip-flop, a data output connected to a clock input of the flip-flop, and a pulse width control input; and a pulse width control circuit connected to the pulse width control input which causes a pulse produced by the monostable multivibrator to have one width when the flip-flop is in a first state and a larger width when the flip-flop is in a second state, the flip-flop producing at its data output a signal which is a logic high voltage when the frequency of an input signal at the trigger input has exceeded a first predetermined frequency and until it thereafter falls below a second predetermined frequency less than said first predetermined frequency, and which is a logic low voltage when the input signal has fallen below the second predetermined frequency until the input signal again exceeds the first predetermined frequency.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting from a radio transmitter which is part of a first system to a radio receiver which is part of a second system a message which includes a plurality of characters arranged in a predetermined sequence. Each character of the message is transmitted in the form of a 48-bit binary word, the first byte of the word being a start byte, the second and third bytes being identical binary numbers representing the position in the message of a selected one of the characters, the fourth and fifth bytes being identical binary numbers which are the ASCII code corresponding to the selected character, and the sixth byte being a stop byte which is a predetermined binary number different from the start byte.

    Abstract: An apparatus for supporting and actuating a punch in a press includes a cam unit body, a cam slide slidably supported on the cam unit body for movement along a first line and having first cam surfaces on opposite sides thereof which are angled with respect to the first line, and a U-shaped driver supported on the cam unit body for movement along a second line, the driver having a second cam surface on each leg thereof which is angled with respect to the second line. The slide is disposed between the legs of the driver and each second cam surface engages a respective first cam surface so that movement of said driver into said cam unit body along said second line moves the slide in one direction along the first line. A slotlike opening oriented parallel to the first line extends transversely through the slide and communicates with an internal cylindrical cavity within the slide, which cavity also extends parallel to the first line.
