  • Publication number: 20070195934
Abstract: The invention involves a rotary anode of an x-ray tube with a cooling element of carbon fiber material constructed so as to be rotationally symmetrical around a coaxial rotation axis. In order to achieve a high heat conducting capability, it is recommended that the base of the cooling element (14) be a preform constructed according to the tailored fiber placement process (TFP), that the cooling element have a hollow cylinder and a one-piece construction, that the carbon fibers (22) run parallel along its entire length or basically parallel to the axis (16) and have a heat conductivity ? with ?>/=250 W/m×K, and that the carbon fibers be connected across a matrix containing carbon whose graphite crystallites are aligned along the carbon fibers.

  • Patent number: 7179532
Abstract: A composite ceramic body includes a fiber-reinforced core region containing carbon, and a surface region containing SiC. • Patent number: 7175787
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a fiber composite component having at least one intersection point. An apparatus for producing a component, comprising fiber composite material, including lower and upper dies of a pressing tool and optionally a heat source, by means of which source the fiber composite material can be heated during its subjection to pressure in the pressing tool. To make it possible to produce a non-warping, lightweight, easily manipulated component with at least one intersection point, in particular a grate, it is proposed that an integral component (preform) of the same or substantially the same material thickness and/or the same or substantially the same fiber volume content at the at least one intersection point and adjoining portions of the component is placed in a mold which predetermines or substantially predetermines its final geometry, and before or after being placed in the mold is provided with a monomer such as resin or a polymer and then cured.

  • Publication number: 20060199132
Abstract: A support for structural components that are subjected to a thermal treatment process. The support includes a frame having limbs and extending therefrom a grid of intersecting strands. In order to prevent the support from warping even when subjected to strong thermal loads or variations in temperature, the frame is produced from a temperature-resistant material and the strands are produced from carbon fibers or ceramic fibers that form the grid, extending from the limbs of the frame.

  • Publication number: 20060068150
Abstract: A tribological fiber composite component especially in the form of a brake disk or clutch disk, having a structure that encompasses at least one TFP preform (60, 62) which is provided with at least one stressable layer of reinforcement fibers. The structure is stabilized by separating material from the gas phase and/or is provided with a monomer and/or a polymer, is hardened and pyrolyzed.

  • Publication number: 20050151305
Abstract: A method for the production of a carbon or a ceramic component based on carbon, using a cellulose-containing semi-finished molded piece which is pyrolyzed. According to the invention, homogeneous large-size ceramic components may be produced, whereby a cellulose-containing, semi-finished molded piece containing fibers, chips or strands of homogeneous density distribution and homogeneous structure is used as semi-finished molded piece and is pyrolyzed in non-oxidizing gas atmospheres.

  • Patent number: 6182700
Abstract: A valve assembly has a valve housing formed with a bore open at a surface and extending along an axis, an inlet passage opening into the bore, inner and outer outlet passages also opening into the bore, and an inner valve seat between the inlet passage and the inner outlet passage. A sleeve fitted in the bore forms an outer valve seat between the inlet passage and the outer outlet passage and a valve body is displaceable in the bore between an inner position against the inner seat and blocking flow from the inlet passage to the inner outlet passage and an outer position against the outer seat and blocking flow from the inlet passage to the outer outlet passage. A retaining disk fitted in the bore between the outer surface and the sleeve secures the sleeve in the bore. A stem extending through the sleeve and through the disk has an inner end connected to the valve body and an outer end outside the valve housing. Seals are provided between the sleeve and the stem.

  • Patent number: 5850846
Abstract: A single-control valve having a valve housing and a stem projecting along a stem axis from the housing and displaceable relative to the housing to control flow through the valve has a handle assembly having a handle body having an actuating arm, a cup-shaped part spacedly surrounding the stem and projecting toward the valve housing, and a mounting collar fittable snugly over the stem. An annular cover skirt us supported on the body by interengaging formations for displacement of the skirt relative to the body between an access position forming with the body an access hole and a use position closely snugly juxtaposed with the body and closing the hole. A fastener engaged is in the collar with the stem and accessible through the hole by a tool only in the access position of the skirt. The fastener is hidden by the skirt in the use position.
