  • Patent number: 6678524
Abstract: A method and system for the routing and transmission of data to a mobile station. Upon receiving a request to deliver data addressed to the mobile station, a node in a circuit-switched network of a mobile telecommunications system identifies whether the mobile station is capable of receiving data via a packet data bearer. If so, the node further determines whether the data addressed to the mobile station should be sent via a packet data bearer in a packet-switched network instead of sending the data via a circuit-switched bearer. If it is determined that the data should be sent via a packet data bearer, then the data is transmitted to the mobile station using a selected packet data bearer. Alternatively, if the request to deliver data addressed to the mobile station is received by a node in the packet-switched network, that node determines whether the data should be sent via a circuit-switched bearer in the circuit-switched network.

  • Patent number: 6400942
Abstract: A relatively large short message (BC-SMS) is broadcast to a selected group of mobile subscriber stations within a cellular radio system. Each BC-SMS message greater in size than a predetermined number of octets is divided into segments, formatted into a separate modified paging message (PBC) which is unrecognizable to existing mobiles but recognizable to new mobiles. The BC-SMS message segments are broadcast in sequence as modified paging messages to the mobiles within the region of the system where the selected group is believed to be operating. Each paging message includes the essential elements of a paging message, a message ID number, a sequence number and the message segment payload.

  • Patent number: 6339713
Abstract: A power management method and system is used with mobile terminals and base stations of a wireless communications system. A conventional random access channel downlink that provides information on whether the channel is available for use by a new mobile terminal is enhanced. While a first mobile terminal is establishing a connection with and transmitting a message to a base station, the base station repeatedly transmits a random access channel downlink that includes the number of units of time remaining in the current message transmission. A second mobile terminal wishing to establish communication with the base station receives and processes this information. Normally, the second mobile terminal would continuously monitor the channel until an idle indication is detected.

  • Patent number: 6226279
Abstract: A digital radio network having a first single random access for packet data is enhanced by providing a second access which includes a second random access channel for controlled short data messages and a polled data channel for larger data messages. All mobiles operating within the system can access the first channel but only dual-mode mobiles can connect to the second access.

  • Patent number: 6038223
Abstract: A new access scheme for a digital radio network for providing packet data access to mobile stations operating within said network. A random access channel (ACH) is provided for control signaling and short data messages between the network and the mobile stations. One or more polling data channels (PDCHs) are provided for larger quantities of data to be sent between the mobile stations and the network. A mobile station seeking access to send data packets contacts the network over the ACH channel, registers for packet access and is assigned a unique flag pattern. The network then sequentially provides to various registered mobiles access to a PDCH channel by sending its flag pattern in a message over the downlink PDCH. When each mobile recognizes its own unique flag pattern it knows that it is then allowed to send a discrete number of packet bursts to the network over the uplink PDCH before access to the PDCH is given to another registered mobile station.

  • Patent number: 4989652
Abstract: A rotator for crane-mounted working implements comprises a housing (7) swingably connectible with the tip of the crane via a joint, and a pivot shaft (8) connectible with the working implement and pivotal relative to said housing by means of at least one vane or flap (10) operating in a chamber and dividing said chamber into two operating chambers which can be supplied with, or evacuated of, hydraulic medium via two first ducts (12) provided in said housing, said pivot shaft including second hydraulic medium through-ducts (17, 17') opening into annular hollow spaces (16, 16') in a swivel connection (15) incorporated in said housing.
