  • Patent number: 8914190
Abstract: A method and a device for operating a belt drive of a motor vehicle. Under high loads, a high belt tension is set and during normal operation a low belt tension is set. The particular belt tension is set through a control process, taking into account the instantaneous load on the belt drive and/or taking into account the age of the belt of the belt drive.

  • Publication number: 20120259535
Abstract: A method and a device for improving the restart of a vehicle equipped with start-stop operation. In order to accelerate the restart, in a stop phase of the start-stop operation a control unit provides control signals on the basis of which the excitation winding is supplied with a pre-excitation current in the stop phase. In addition, given the presence of a restart request occurring during the slowdown of the internal combustion engine, the control unit checks whether an immediate restart is possible and sensible, and, in the case in which an immediate restart is possible and sensible, initiates an immediate restart, and delays the restart in the case in which an immediate restart is not possible or not sensible.

  • Publication number: 20110215744
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing information on a rotor position of a rotor of an electric machine (2) for utilization in a function connected downstream, comprising the following steps: —determining at least one electric operating variable of a stator winding of the electric machine, particularly a phase current and/or a phase voltage; —determining a rotor position as a function of the electric operating variable—providing information on the rotor position determined as a function of the electric operating variable for the function connected downstream if the rotational speed of the electric machine (2) exceeds a threshold rotational speed (SW).

  • Patent number: 7472017
Abstract: A method for triggering solenoid valves assigned to gas-exchange valves in an electrohydraulic valve activation of an internal combustion engine having a plurality of combustion chambers. The solenoid valves assigned to the gas-exchange valves may be activated independently of each other. To this end, crankshaft-synchronous trigger signal for solenoid valves of the internal combustion engine are ascertained in a control unit and transmitted to an output stage. The output stage controls the solenoid valves on the basis of the transmitted trigger signals. Each combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine has at least one intake valve and at least one discharge valve as gas-exchange valve. All solenoid valves of all gas-exchange valves of a combustion chamber form a solenoid-valve set. One activation profile in each case is specified for all solenoid valves of a solenoid valve set.

  • Patent number: 7084637
Abstract: A device for monitoring at least two electromagnetic valves of an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle. An actual current that is independent of the other valves may be supplied to each valve. A setpoint current is preselected for each valve. Measuring devices are provided for measuring the actual currents supplied to the valves. A control unit is used to add the measured actual currents to yield a total actual current. Due to the control unit, the setpoint currents are added to yield a total setpoint current and compared to the total actual current. This comparison is used by the control unit for monitoring the valves and/or their interconnections.
