Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of water- and solvent-resistant coatings by coating substrates with an aqueous coating composition containing as binder a mixture of(1) reaction products, containing anionic structural units of the formula ##STR1## in a quantity of 5 to 1200 milliequivalents per 100 g of said reaction products, obtained by reacting organic polyisocyanates with salts of cyanamide and bases selected from ammonia, volatile primary and secondary amines having a pKb-value of at least 3.1 and any volatile aliphatic tertiary amines and(2) polyepoxides having at least two epoxide groups per molecule and an epoxide equivalent of at least about 80, said polyepoxides being used in a quantity corresponding to an equivalent ratio of epoxide groups to anionic structural units of about 0.1:1 to 3:1, andcross-linking the binder at a temperature of about 5 to 200.degree. C. The present invention is also directed to the aqueous coating composition based on components 1 and 2.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the production of water- and solvent-resistant coated substrates by coating heat-resistant substrates with a solution or dispersion of an anionic group-containing polyisocyanate addition product in an aqueous solvent or dispersant and subsequently thermally treating the coating at a temperature of about 60.degree. to 200.degree. C., with evaporation or vaporization of the solvent or dispersant and simultaneous crosslinking of the polyisocyanate addition product which has been applied to the substrate, characterized in that incorporated anionic structural units corresponding to the formula ##STR1## are used in a quantity of about 5 to 1000 milliequivalents per 100 g of solids and the solids are based on reaction products of organic polyisocyanates with salts of cyanamide and bases selected from ammonia, primary and secondary amines having a minimum pKb value of 3.1, tertiary amines and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: Air-drying alkyd resins which are in the form of neutralized semi-esters of hexahydrophthalic acid anhydride constitute an excellent basis for coatings which undergo virtually no yellowing and which, even when aged by heat, show a high constancy of color.

Abstract: A process for the production of water-dilutable binders based on air-drying short-oil alkyd resins acidified by semiester formation with dicarboxylic acid anhydrides which alkyd resins have acid numbers of from 30 to 70 and hydroxyl numbers of from 40 to 120 and a content of natural unsaturated fatty acids in an amount of from 15 to 50 % by weight and of a co-condensed natural-resin-modified phenol resol resin in an amount of from 2 to 10 % by weight, characterized in that 1. the molar composition of the alkyd resin before semiester formation corresponds to a polyalcohol/polycarboxylic acid (anhydride)/monocarboxylic acid ratio of 1 : (0.5-1) : (0.3-1), and 2. polyalcohols, polycarboxylic acids resp. their anhydrides, monocarboxylic acids and phenolic resins are co-condensed in a single process stage, followed only by semiester formation with dicarboxylic acid anhydrides.

Abstract: Highly deformable coatings which are capable of being deep drawn and which are persistent to sterilization can be obtained by using a binder which comprises a mixture of 5 - 30 parts by weight of a benzoguanamine resin and 95 - 70 parts by weight of a polyester which contains o-phthalic acid groups, dihydric and/or trihydric alcohols modified by a polysiloxane of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN N IS FROM 2 TO 5, R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 are alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl, tolyl or benzyl and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl, tolyl or benzyl.

Abstract: Liquid stoving-lacquer systems based on oil-free polyesters obtained by reacting polybasic carboxylic acids or their anhydrides and 2-ethylpropane diol-1.3 and optionally additional polyhydric alcohols, are highly compatible with melamine resins.
