  • Patent number: 4055431
Abstract: This invention relates to new compounds of the formula ##STR1## m is 1 or 2, n is 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, Z represents a polyamine radical containing a basic tertiary or a quaternary nitrogen atom. The compounds of formula (m) an useful as crosslinking agents. They are particularly useful for crosslinking gelatine, preferably gelatin present in layers of photographic material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 1976
Date of Patent: October 25, 1977
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy AG
    Inventors: Rolf Kyburz, Rainer Kitzing
  • Patent number: 4001201
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for crosslinking hydrophilic colloids which contain amino-, imino- and/or hydroxyl groups. Compounds of the formula ##EQU1## are used as crosslinking agents. In the formula V and W denote hydrogen atoms or organic radicals, X and Y represent vinyl groups or substituted vinyl groups or groups which can be converted into vinyl groups, Z represents an organic bridge member and m is an integer from one to 11. The compounds used as cross-linking agents, except those of the above formula wherein X and Y represent groups which can be converted into vinyl groups, are new and form part of the invention; also forming another aspect of the invention are photographic materials containing celloids cross-linked as per the above process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 16, 1973
Date of Patent: January 4, 1977
    Assignee: Ciba-Geigy AG
    Inventor: Rolf Kyburz

  • Patent number: 3978122
Abstract: The present invention relates to the new compounds of the formulaR--(CH.sub.2).sub.3 --(O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2).sub.n --O--(CH.sub.2).sub.3 --Rwherein n is an integer having a value of 1 to 100 and R represents a radical of the formula Cl--H.sub.2 C--CH.sub.2 --CO--NH--CO--NH-- or preferably H.sub.2 C=CH--CO--NH--CO--NH--. The new compounds are useful for crosslinking hydrophilic colloids such as gelatine, particularly for crosslinking gelatine layers in photographic material.
