  • Patent number: 5591513
Abstract: A rubber article has a rubber base body and a non-black areal member attached to the surface of the rubber base body. The rubber base body is made of a rubber compound containing at least one a basic, amino-group containing, aromatic anti-oxidant. The non-black areal member contains inorganic acidic components.

  • Patent number: 5591283
Abstract: A pneumatic bicycle tire to be operated with an inner tube includes a tread and two sidewalls. A bead is connected to a free end of each one of the sidewalls for mounting the tire on a wheel rim with rim flanges having a maximum standard height limit. Each bead has a bead core. A carcass is embedded in the tire and extends between the beads, wherein free ends of the carcass are wound about the beads. The carcass includes at least one ply. A padding strip is embedded in each sidewall in the vicinity of the beads. The padding strip is positioned along a curved section of the sidewall. The curved section begins at a center of the bead core and has a length equal to 40% to 210% of the maximum standard height limit. The padding strip has a hardness of between 40 and 60 Shore A, a rebound resilience of below 80% measured at a frequency of 2,000 Hz, and a thickness of at least 0.6 mm.

  • Patent number: 5129171
Abstract: A device for zone-by-zone tensioning of a flat material, especially an embroidery hoop. According to one possible solution, tensioning and clamping are brought about by a change in the circumferential length of a tensioning member that can be filled, by a gas or a fluid and another solution brings this about by twisting a tensioning member. To generate a strong tensioning force in the material, it is proposed in the first solution that the tensioning member be designed as a crease-free tube with a body. By selecting a cord angle of the body, tensioning can be achieved by increasing or decreasing the pressure and by increasing or decreasing the circumferential length. According to another solution, the tensioning member is designed as a torsion body that can be twisted in itself, preferably as a reinforced hollow body, which may also form a closed ring. To increase the tensioning force without unduly stressing the material, the device is designed with a rigid outer ring and a twistable inner ring.

  • Patent number: 5108528
Abstract: A method and apparatus for bonding a carcass for a tubed tire with a belt band that protects the radially inner side of the tire. The bonding surface is coated with a rubber solution, the belt band is placed thereon, and the bonding zone of tire and belt band is vulcanized. To achieve an increased resistance to separation between a biased carcass and a belt band, the zenith portion of the tire is reinforced with additional or overlapping plies in such a way that the rigidity of the outer half in the circumferential direction is greater than that of the inner half. While avoiding high speed accelerators, the rubber solution is provided with such a quantity of polymerizing agent that at the selected vulcanization temperature a vulcanizing time of between a third of a minute and ten minutes results. The tire, which is provided with the belt band and is in a position of use, is disposed onto a ring that is provided with a circumferential trough and is heated.
