    Abstract: An electronic device of determining proximity of a wireless external device is provided. The electronic device includes a transceiver, a sensor, and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to transmit a first signal to the external device through the transceiver, acquire, when the first signal is transmitted, information about a user's gesture made in a vicinity of a sensor positioned within a certain distance from the transceiver through the sensor, wherein the first signal is distorted by the user's gesture and provided to the external device, receive, from the external device through the transceiver, a second signal generated as the external device copies the distorted first signal, and determine the proximity of the external device based on the second signal.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and device for determining, by an electronic device, proximity of an external electronic device. A method, performed by an electronic device, of determining proximity of an external electronic device includes: measuring a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of a wireless communication signal received from the external electronic device when the electronic device is at a first position; measuring an RSSI of a wireless communication signal received from the external electronic device when the electronic device is at a second position different from the first position; and determining whether the external electronic device is proximate, based on a difference between the RSSI measured at the first position and the RSSI measured at the second position.

A Cauchy matrix is generated using the at least one parity symbol. A Cauchy submatrix is configured from the Cauchy matrix based on the number of at least one lost data symbol and an inverse matrix of the Cauchy submatrix is calculated. At least one parity symbol corresponding to the at least one lost data symbol is updated. The at least one lost data symbol is recovered using the updated at least one parity symbol.
