  • Publication number: 20170340445
Abstract: A spacer comprised of individual components as joint replacement in the arthroplasty of shoulder, knee, and hip for the temporary surgical care of infections in the joint. The problems addressed by the invention are those of avoiding an adhesion of the bone to the spacer and a release of wear products, achieving that the patient does substantially not experience any mobility restriction, and keeping the wear and tear of the spacer as little as possible. These problems are solved in that at least one component of the spacer is made of a ceramic material, of a plurality of ceramic materials, or of a non-ceramic material having a ceramic coating.

  • Patent number: 9301855
Abstract: An insertion instrument for hip endoprosthetics for inserting socket inserts into endoprosthetic hip sockets having holding claws which are connected to a substantially ring-shaped support element through spring elements, wherein the insertion instrument can be placed on the socket insert and can be connected to said socket insert through the holding claws. In order for the user to receive direct palpatory information about the events in the operation areas and to not suffer a perceived loss of control, it is proposed that the support element surround a freely accessible, substantially circular effective insertion area, the center point of which is located on the longitudinal axis of the insertion instrument.

  • Patent number: 8888861
Abstract: A hip socket for use in a hip joint prosthesis comprising a shaft on which a ball head may be fixed, the ball head may be rotatably inserted in a socket insert and the socket insert may be inserted and fixed in the hip socket the shaft and the hip socket being implantable in the thigh bone and the pelvic bone respectively. Damages to the socket insert and/or limitation of the function of the sliding pair of ball head/socket insert may be avoided by local reduction of the calotte diameter of the socket insert, such that the hip socket has an asymmetrical design with regard to the stiffness and/or geometry thereof in two different directions (x, y) orthogonal to each other and to the symmetry axis (z) of the hip socket.
