  • Patent number: 4813581
Abstract: A collapsible coat hanger formed of plastic includes a hook supported by a body member having right and left hanger arms attached thereto by hinges. The body includes a stop member and outer stop shoulders. Right and left symmetrical hinged locking arms are connected by hinges to inner surfaces of the left and right hanger arms and are connected together at their upper inner edges by a center hinge. Each locking bar has an upper boss with a perpendicular bearing surface. The ends of a C-shaped integral spring are attached to the left and right locking arms, respectively, by hinges on either side of the center hinge. When the hanger is collapsed, the spring is in its relaxed configuration, and the center hinge is below the spring hinges. When the hanger is in its open configuration, the center hinge is above the spring hinges and engages the stop member. The bearing surfaces engage shoulders of the stop member, locking the hanger in its open configuration.

  • Patent number: 4673115
Abstract: A collapsible coat hanger formed entirely of molded polypropylene includes a hook supported by a body member having right and left hanger arms attached thereto by hinge straps. The body includes a stop member and outer stop shoulders. Right and left symmetrical hinged locking arms are connected by hinge straps to inner surfaces of the left and right hanger arms and are connected together at their upper inner edges by a center hinge strap. Each locking bar has an upper boss with a perpendicular bearing surface. The ends of a C-shaped integral spring are attached to the left and right locking arms, respectively, by hinge straps on either side of the center hinge. When the hanger is collapsed, the spring is in its relaxed configuration, and the center hinge strap is below the spring hinge straps. When the hanger is in its open configuration, the center hinge strap is above the spring hinge straps and engages the stop member.

  • Patent number: 4653829
Abstract: A quick connect lamp socket for rapid connection to a pair of electrical conductors to provide temporary lighting includes a structure that is entirely plastic except for a first rigid conductive member that contacts the threads of a screwed-in light bulb and a second rigid conductive member that contacts the center conductor of the light bulb. Each of the first and second conductive members have sharp edges that cut through the insulation of the cable as the conductors of the cable are pressed against the edges. A pair of pivotally connected arms function as levers having pads that press the insulated cable conductors against the cutting edges of the first and second conductive members. A cap pressed on the device retains the insulated conductors in place. The arms pivot to lock together and form a hook through which a cable can extend to support the quick connect socket.

  • Patent number: 4330148
Abstract: An extender for motor vehicle sun visors includes two opposed plastic panels hinged together by a hinge section which is integral with the plastic panels. A plurality of U-shaped spring elements extend around the outer surfaces of the hinge section and the plastic panels, engaging the outer surfaces of the plastic panels, forcing them together with a relatively constant force to ensure secure gripping of a conventional sun visor by the extender, regardless of the effects of temperature on the elasticity of the hinge section.

  • Patent number: 4185398
Abstract: A polypropylene wig supporting framework and method of manufacture. The wig drying framework includes two symmetrical frameworks each shaped somewhat like half of a human head. Each of the symmetrial frameworks includes an integral half-elbow member and two integral support members. The two symmetrical frameworks are connected by means of a thin polypropylene hinge strap approximately 40 mils in thickness. Each symmetrical framework includes a plurality of spaced vertical and lateral members which are integrally joined at intersections thereof. Each symmetrical framework includes a plurality of integral fastening members which may be aligned and snapped together to fasten the two symmetrical frameworks together to provide a single head-shaped wig supporting framework and associated supporting members. The fastening members include rigid "tongue" members and "hinge" members having small openings therein to snap over ends of "tongue" members.
