An example embodiment includes a solar panel mounting system comprising: a top bar; a bottom bar; a first side bar; a second side bar; a plurality of elongated ribs extending between the top bar and the bottom bar, the first and second side bars extending between the top and bottom bars, the top bar, the bottom bar, the first side bar, and the second side bar collectively forming an outer boundary of the mounting system, and the elongated ribs providing support and a location on which a solar panel can be mounted; and a solar panel attached to the plurality of elongated ribs with a flexible adhesive.
