  • Patent number: 10700906
Abstract: A wireless communication device (alternatively, device, WDEV, etc.) includes at least one processing circuitry configured to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A WDEV generates an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) frame that includes a preamble that specifies allocation and/or non-allocation of at least one resource unit (RU) for a communication channel and transmits the OFDMA frame to at least one other wireless communication device to be processed by the at least one other wireless communication device to determine the allocation of the at least one RU for the communication channel or the non-allocation of the at least one RU for the communication channel.

  • Patent number: 10693577
Abstract: A wireless communication device (alternatively, device) includes a processing circuitry configured to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A device generates and transmits a request to send (RTS) to group (RTG) frame to other devices. In response to the RTG frame, the device receives clear to send (CTS)(s) from one or more of the other devices and generates and transmits an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) data frame to those one or more of the other devices based thereon. The RTG frame can include different RTSs transmitted via different channels, sub-channels, sub-carriers, etc. to the different other devices.

  • Patent number: 10673591
Abstract: Pilot tones are included within symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) transmitted between wireless communication devices. The pilot tones occupy fewer than all tone locations in any given symbol, and the pilot tones occupy different respective locations within different symbols. Generally, these traveling pilots are assigned to different respective tone locations in different symbols. In total, the pilot tones did not cover every single tone location within the symbols used to convey information between devices. Considering for example, when pilots occupy fewer than all tone locations, even among multiple symbols, a device may perform interpolation to generate a pilot tone estimate corresponding to a tone location not occupied by pilot tone within any symbol. Also, power or magnitude of the pilot tones themselves may be boosted or amplified relative to power magnitude of other tones within such symbols.

  • Patent number: 10667262
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for conducting wireless communication are provided. One method includes identifying a location of the apparatus. The method further includes obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the apparatus to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band. The frequency band includes a plurality of channels each having a fixed width. The method further include determining a first set of one or more of the plurality of channels containing the first sub-band of frequencies over which the licensed entity is licensed to communicate. The method further includes conducting wireless transmissions on a second set of one or more of the plurality of channels that do not contain the first sub-band of frequencies while disabling wireless transmissions on the first set of channels.

  • Patent number: 10659977
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a communication interface and a processor that operate to generate a first transmission stream by processing first information based on first parameter(s) and a second transmission stream by processing second information based on second parameter(s). In some examples, the second at least one parameter is relatively less robust than the first at least one parameter, and the second information augments the first information when combined with the first information. The wireless communication device then transmits the first transmission stream and the second transmission stream to at least one other wireless communication device. Examples of such parameters include forward error correction (FEC) code, error correction code (ECC), modulation coding set (MCS), modulation type including a mapping of constellation points arranged in a constellation, power (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20200137204
Abstract: Frame formatting for communications within single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. A signal is processed within a communication device using at least two respective downclocking ratios (e.g., a first downclocking ratio applied to a first portion of the signal such as a frame or packet extracted there from, a second downclocking ratio applied to a second portion of the signal). Alternatively, a signal is divided into more than two respective portions, and different respective downclocking ratios are applied to those different respective portions (e.g., a first downclocking ratio applied to a first portion of the signal, and so on up to an n-th downclocking ratio applied to an n-th portion of the signal). Some implementations apply a singular or common downclocking ratio to more than one portion of the signal (which may be contiguous/adjacent or non-contiguous/non-adjacent within the signal).

  • Patent number: 10630435
Abstract: A wireless communication device (alternatively, device, WDEV, etc.) includes a processing circuitry configured to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other WDEV(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A WDEV selects a resource unit (RU) from an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) sub-carrier plan for use in supporting communications with another WDEV. The WDEV transmits a signal to the other WDEV that includes information that specifies the RU that is selected from the OFDMA sub-carrier plan and then supports communications with the other WDEV using the RU that is selected from the OFDMA sub-carrier plan. The OFDMA sub-carrier plan includes multiple OFDMA sub-carrier sub-plans of different sized RUs and null sub-carriers.

  • Patent number: 10542565
Abstract: A wireless communication device is configured to perform clear channel assessment (CCA) using one or more CCA levels that are selected based on various criteria. The device receives or detects one or more packets on the communication medium, and the device then processes those one or more packets to determine status of one or more channels within one or more frequency bands using the one or more CCA levels. These CCA levels may be selected based on one or more parameters, and different CCA levels may be used at different times, for different channels, etc. Also, different CCA levels may be used to determine the status of different channels, different portions of the frequency spectrum, etc. When at least one channel is determined as being clear and available for usage, the device is configured to support communications with one or more other devices via one or more channels.
