  • Publication number: 20220120363
Abstract: A coupler for connecting to a tube (e.g., a siphon tube), a fire extinguisher incorporating the same, and a method for connecting a coupler to a tube are provided. The coupler includes a body defining a radially outward facing surface, a radially inward facing surface, a proximal end, and a distal end. The coupler includes a foldable section disposed at the proximal end. The foldable section including an unfolded position defining an unfolded internal diameter and a folded position defining a folded internal diameter. The foldable section is configured to receive a proximal end of the tube in the unfolded position. The foldable section is configured to secure to the circumferential groove in the folded position.

  • Patent number: 8893815
Abstract: A fire extinguisher, a discharge nozzle assembly for discharging a fluid under pressure, and a method for discharging a wet chemical fire extinguishing agent are presented. The discharge nozzle assembly includes a nozzle housing and a nozzle body inserted in the nozzle housing and defining a plurality of parallel flow passages. In an embodiment, the nozzle body defines three flow passages that are positioned equidistant radially from the longitudinal axis of the discharge nozzle and that are arrayed in the pattern of an equilateral triangle.

  • Publication number: 20130186655
Abstract: A portable handheld dry chemical fire extinguisher is provided that includes a discharge nozzle assembly that is uniquely suited for fighting cooking oil fires. The discharge nozzle assembly discharges a relatively low velocity, high volume flow of dry chemical fire extinguishing agent that gently curves downwardly over a relatively short reach to fall into the fire, such as a cooking oil fire in a cooking vessel on a range top, without splashing.

  • Patent number: 5377872
Abstract: A valve, particularly useful in a fire extinguisher, includes a valve housing having a through bore. A valve stem is disposed within the bore and is axially moveable between a first position, a second position, and a third position. The valve stem includes a seal adjacent to the second axial end for sealing with the first section of the bore. A cap is disposed within the second section of the bore and is axially moveable between a first position and a second position. The cap includes a seal for sealing with the bore when the cap is in the first position. The cap seal is impermeable to solids and permeable to gas when the cap is in the first position.
