  • Patent number: 4776862
Abstract: A monolayer diamond tool is made by coating diamond abrasive particles with a carbide-forming metal and then brazing the coated diamond to a tool substrate.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4613437
Abstract: A coolant filter assembly is described particularly adapted for filtering particulate matter from coolant fluid used with corrective lens grinding and edging machines. The device has a bowl-shaped housing which has an opened upper end and a lower end having a fluid outlet duct. A primary filter screen is attached across the opened end of the housing and is preferably made from stainless steel wire mesh. The central portion of the primary filter screen is covered by a coolant distribution dish which radially distributes discharged contaminated coolant fluid around the periphery of the primary filter screen. After passing through the primary filter screen, coolant material flows through a pair of concentrically arranged cylindrical particulate filters and thereafter is discharged through the outlet duct into a coolant tank. The device is easily used with existing coolant handling systems and features removable filter elements for cleaning or replacement.

  • Patent number: 4288233
Abstract: A method for making replaceable abrasive pads for ophthalmic lens lapping tools wherein a substrate sheet is metal plated with abrasive particles and then shapes suitable for lens lapping tools are cut therefrom. The abrasive pads are suitable for abrading glass or plastic lenses.

  • Patent number: 4131436
Abstract: An ophthalmic flat roughing wheel having a circumferential grinding layer made of a diamond-containing metallic matrix having greater diamond concentration in the center than at the edges. The wheel is made by bonding to the circumferential surface of a wheel blank, a diamond-containing metallic matrix of relatively high diamond concentration sandwiched between diamond-containing metallic matrixes of relatively lower diamond concentrations.
