  • Patent number: 7518721
Abstract: A lateral flow device is disclosed. The lateral flow device includes a substrate having a flow path and a detection zone disposed along the flow path. The detection zone includes an immobilized target-binding moiety directed against a target of a Raman-active complex. Also disclosed is a method of conducting a lateral flow assay and detection system. The method includes i) defining a flow path having a detection zone; ii) flowing a sample down the flow path; and iii) immobilizing a Raman-active complex if present, at the detection zone. The sample includes a Raman-active complex or a Raman-active tag.

  • Publication number: 20090002699
Abstract: A device for identifying an unknown substance includes an optical source configured to direct a laser excitation beam at the unknown substance. A detector is configured to detect scattered light from the unknown substance and generate at least one signal representative of a scattering spectrum corresponding to at least one chemical within the unknown substance. A microprocessor is in signal communication with the detector and configured to generate a pattern representative of the at least one chemical in response to the at least one signal received from the detector to identify the chemical composition of the unknown substance. The device is configured to complete a bioassay to identify a biological nature of the unknown substance.

  • Patent number: 6113360
Abstract: A gerotor pump includes a pressure relief return flow guide system, composed of two distinct structures, a pressure relief port, and a flow guide. The pressure relief port separates the pressure relief flow and inlet flow, preventing them from mixing and causing turbulence in the inlet cavities. The flow guide is located at the end of the pressure relief port and the inlet to make the two flows smoothly merge in the inlet cavities.

  • Patent number: 5733111
Abstract: A gerotor pump includes a pair of relief ports superimposed on and directly communicating with the pump's inlet and outlet channels, respectively. The relief ports simultaneously communicate with an open mesh pumping chamber so as to provide an intermittent controlled leak from the open mesh pumping chamber. Upon rotation of the gear members of the gerotor pump when the volume in the open mesh pumping chamber is increasing to a maximum volume, fluid in the open mesh pumping chamber vents into the relief port superimposed on and communicating with the outlet channel while continuing to communicate with the relief port superimposed on and communicating with the inlet channel.
