  • Patent number: 5282101
Abstract: A gasket for a disc drive system having a recording media within a sealed housing having top and bottom casing members, a read/write head for transferring information between the recording media and an external system and a head positioner assembly for locating the head relative to the recording media, the improvement comprising a gasket for sealing a connection between the top and bottom casing members. The gasket includes a liner sheet for lateral stability during thermo cycling and opposing layers of a foam material flame bonded to the liner sheet. The foam material is polypropylene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 1992
Date of Patent: January 25, 1994
    Assignee: Seagate Technology, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4261330
Abstract: A solar heat collector having an elongated housing, a segmented absorber plate, inlet and outlet header pipes fluidly connected by a plurality of riser pipes for conducting heat transfer fluid through the collector, multilayered insulation for minimizing heat losses from the collector and at least one segmented, arcuate transparent cover for allowing passage of solar radiation therethrough while isolating the interior of the collector from the elements. The multilayered insulation is constructed so as to withstand temperatures of about 400.degree. F. without any attendant thermal degradation.

  • Patent number: 3965096
Abstract: A new class of polymers is provided, namely, poly (diarylsiloxy) arylazines. These novel polymers have a basic chemical composition which has the property of stabilizing the optical and physical properties of the polymer against the degradative effect of ultraviolet light and high temperatures. This stabilization occurs at wavelengths including those shorter than found on the surface of the earth and in the absence or presence of oxygen, making the polymers of the present invention useful for high performance coating applications in extraterrestrial space as well as similar applications in terrestrial service. The invention also provides novel aromatic azines which are useful in the preparation of polymers such as those of the present invention.
