  • Patent number: 7609056
Abstract: Apparatus to determine the position of a movable member of an actuator operating a valve assembly are disclosed. The movable member of the actuator displaces an actuation arm of a position sensor such that relative displacement occurs between a magnetic flux source and a magnetic flux sensor of the position sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 2006
Date of Patent: October 27, 2009
    Assignee: Fisher Controls International LLC
Inventors: Kenneth William Junk, Michel Ken Lovell, Ronald Francis Hurd, Steven B. Paullus

  • Patent number: 7005847
Abstract: A non-contacting position sensor detects relative displacement between two objects. A magnetic flux source is provided by a plurality of discrete magnets selectively determined to produce a highly configurable flux source that is easily adapted to rotary or rectilinear displacement. The interaction of the individual flux fields generated by the discrete magnets is controlled to produce both linear and non-linear relationships with respect to changes in displacement. A flux-gathering pole piece is dimensionally optimized to integrate the plurality of individual flux fields directed to a magnetic sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 2005
Date of Patent: February 28, 2006
    Assignee: Fisher Controls International LLC
Inventors: George Wayne Gassman, Carl Gene Scafferi, Ronald Francis Hurd
