  • Patent number: 9014361
Abstract: A system and associated methods for automation and management of trunk routing among switches in a telecommunications network between carriers connected to a third party tandem services provider or manager (a “neutral tandem network.”) The system and methodology can be used to, among other things, effectuate a business model for providing preferred rates, or other preferences, to a defined group of members or subscribers by managing and directing subscriber-associated call traffic from subscriber-owned switches to one or more tandem switches owned by a third-party tandem managing entity other than a LEC or ILEC.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 2013
Date of Patent: April 21, 2015
    Assignee: Inteliquent, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20120123829
Abstract: A communications system is provided for enabling a plurality of service providers to interconnect via an Ethernet platform, the plurality of service providers employing disparate Ethernet protocols. The system includes a central server and a plurality of switching locations. Each one of the plurality of switching locations is communicatively connected to the central server and to the plurality of service providers. Each of the plurality of switching locations includes a plurality of Ethernet router switches, a monitoring device, a local server coupled to a plurality of databases. Each of the plurality of databases is associated with each of the service providers. A communications media is provided for interconnecting the plurality of switches, the service providers, the router switches, the connectivity device, and the local server.

  • Publication number: 20060193461
Abstract: A third party tandem provider that intercepts and routes voice and data traffic between telecommunications carriers, e.g., wireless carriers, local exchange carriers, and long distance carriers, by dynamically determining the actual terminating switch for a call using a plurality of proprietary databases versus terminating calls merely based on the switch associated with the terminating telephone number. The tandem services provider Service Control Point (SCP) is arranged to maintain a carrier unit's status in a resident database or secure such information per call from the terminating carrier's database. When a call is placed to a telephone number associated with a carrier connected to the tandem, the tandem platform Service Switching Point (SSP) queries the SCP for availability and routing instructions. In response, the SCP accesses its database and/or the terminating carrier's database to determine the status of the unit.
