  • Patent number: 8430184
Abstract: A valve body has a channel extending along an axis and an inlet port open to the channel. A sleeve, received about the valve body, overlies the inlet port and is rotatable about the axis relative the body. A nozzle projects radially outward from the sleeve. The nozzle is rotatable with the sleeve into a range of positions in which the nozzle communicates with the inlet port through the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 8066205
Abstract: An apparatus for use with a paint container includes a nozzle and a housing. The nozzle receives paint from the container. The housing has a handle, an air inlet, and an air flow path configured to direct air from the inlet into the container. A valve body opens and closes the air flow path into the container upon moving back and forth between open and closed positions. The valve body moves between those positions by rotating about an axis without moving along the axis.

  • Publication number: 20100163654
Abstract: A hand-held spray gun has a fluid inlet, a nozzle, and a fluid flow path configured to communicate the inlet with the nozzle. A trigger valve opens and closes the flow path. Another valve has a valve body that varies a flow area in the flow path upon moving through a range of positions. A thumbwheel rotates the valve body, which moves through the range of positions by rotating about an axis while remaining stationary along the axis. Additionally, a nozzle assembly includes a base part and a cap part that varies a fluid spray pattern upon rotating about an axis relative to the base part. One of those parts has a projection. The other has a pair of circumferentially spaced-apart stop surfaces defining opposite ends of an arcuate path of movement for the projection when the cap part rotates about the axis.

  • Patent number: 7537027
Abstract: An apparatus includes a valve body defining a chamber located on an axis. The chamber has axially upper and lower ends. The chamber further has upper and lower orifices located at the upper and lower ends through which air can exit the chamber. An upper plug is configured, in a closed position, to close the upper orifice. A lower plug is configured, in a closed position, to close the lower orifice. A spring is compressed between the plugs so as to elastically urge the plugs axially apart and into their respective closed positions. A plug displacement device is configured to displace the upper plug from its closed position against bias of the spring into an open position, and to displace the lower plug from its closed position against the bias of the spring into an open position.

  • Patent number: 7140179
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a valve body having a cylindrical bore centered on an axis. A cylindrical core extends axially within the bore and is fixed relative to the valve body. A sleeve within the bore extends circumferentially about the core and is rotatable about the axis relative to the core. A passage extends radially through the sleeve and provides a radial flow path from the core through the passage to the valve body. Alignment of the passage is circumferentially selectable by rotation of the passage with the sleeve about the axis.

  • Patent number: 6561063
Abstract: A rotary cut-off tool has a hand-held housing. The housing has an open end centered on an axis and a housing abutment surface facing axially outward of the open end. A motor within the housing has an output shaft. A guard has a guard flange with a mounting hole. An arbor is configured to extend axially from the shaft through the mounting hole. A cut-off disk is receivable on the arbor. A spring has an installed position compressively engaged by and between the housing abutment surface and the guard flange, such that the spring releasably restrains the guard from swiveling about the axis.
