  • Patent number: 6238064
Abstract: A decorative lighting louver element is described in which a louver body includes opposed side surfaces. The louver body further includes a top end and a bottom end. A decorative member is sandwiched between the opposed surfaces and includes an edge that is visually exposed adjacent the bottom end of the louver body.

  • Patent number: 6139169
Abstract: A lighting louver mounting case is described for encasing and releasably mounting a lighting louver to an outdoor lighting housing. The case includes a light reflective panel receiving compartment formed by side walls of the case and by substantially transparent bottom and top cover members that enclose and substantially hermetically seal a light reflective panel. A mounting element on the case enables the case to be releasably secured to the outdoor lighting housing.

  • Patent number: 5958326
Abstract: A process is described for forming a lighting louver that includes a plurality of louver members. The process includes the steps of providing a sheet of thermoformable material and heating the sheet to a pliable state. A further step includes providing a forming mandrel having a series of mandrel partitions arranged with spaces between the partitions. The heated sheet is positioned over the forming mandrel, and is forced against the forming mandrel to form the heated sheet over the mandrel partitions and thereby produce a formed louver blank including formed louver segments that conform to the mandrel partitions and webbing segments that span the spaces between the partitions on the forming mandrel. In one preferred form the webbing segments are removed. In another preferred form, transparent webbing segments are formed that do not require removal and will transmit light. The webbing segments in the first form are removed from the louver blank to form light transmissive openings through the louver blank.

  • Patent number: 5335156
Abstract: A flexible cantilevered lighting baffle includes a first flexible member including a top edge from which is removably suspended a second flexible member and light baffle elements mounted thereon. The first member may be attached by conventional fasteners to a ceiling structure with a top edge exposed to receive connectors on the second member. Connectors in the form of inverted "U" shaped tabs on the second member are releasably received over the top edge of the first member. Light baffle elements are mounted cantilever style to the second member, as is a light seal. The baffle elements are cantilevered on one side of the second member. The light seal is provided on the opposite side to compress against the first member and prevent escape of light between the first and second members when mounted together.

  • Patent number: 5226720
Abstract: An adapter for facilitating mounting of lighting louvers in "T" rail lighting fixtures is provided. The adapter includes an elongated bar including a first flange extending laterally from an upright web portion and a second flange extending in an opposite direction of the first flange from the web. The bar is formed of a relatively flat, thin sheet metal material that is bent into the configuration such that one portion defines the first flange, another portion defines the upright web, and another portion defines the second flange. The first flange is of sufficient dimension to be received between the lighting fixture frame and the "T" rail. The fixture frame therefore secures the bar in place within the fixture opening. The upright web section includes means for receiving and mounting the lighting louver. The second flange functions to overlap a portion of the lighting louver and act as a light screen between the "T" rail and the peripheral edges of the lighting louver.

  • Patent number: 5008791
Abstract: A lighting system for room lighting includes a light grid comprised of intersecting first and second sets of parallel elongated parabolic louvers. The louvers of at least one of the first or second sets are angularly oriented to nadir and spaced apart to confine light passing downwardly therethrough to an asymmetrical candlepower distribution curve. One quadrant of the curve, termed a "wall washing quadrant" is on one side of the curve and a "low direct glare quadrant" is oriented to an opposite side of the curve. The light and light grid are placed adjacent the wall such that the wall washing quadrant is oriented toward the wall to illuminate the wall and the low direct glare distribution quadrant is oriented toward the interior of the room. The wall washing quadrant eliminates the "cave effect" at the juncture of the adjacent wall and the ceiling while the low direct glare quadrant provides desired illumination directed into the adjacent room.

  • Patent number: 4951443
Abstract: A panel and clip construction are disclosed for suspending or for mounting the panel to a conventional T-rail support grid. The panel includes a panel body of a prescribed peripheral configuration. Centering brackets are mountable to the panel grid members about the panel periphery. The centering brackets each include end surfaces for engaging facing edge surfaces of the T-rail. The end surfaces of the centering brackets are positioned on the panel to engage edges of the T-rail and precisely center the panel within a grid opening formed by the T-rails. Clips are selectively provided in the assembly and are spring biased by bracket bases to selectively engage and support the panel from the t-rails. The bracket bases, clips, and centering brackets are selectively assemblable on the panel through openings along top edges thereof. Selectively positioned notches along the top edges serve to locate the end surfaces of the centering brackets and thereby facilitate the centering capabilities of the surfaces.
