  • Patent number: 10592536
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to obtaining location information of a person or a machine when the person or machine uses an imaging device to capture an image of one or more objects located in an indoor facility. The location information can be obtained by processing the captured image in conjunction with a reference map and/or a database. The reference map can be generated by using one or more reference images of the various objects in the indoor facility. The database can contain information such as a location, a dimension, and an orientation of each of the various objects in the indoor facility. The location information can also be obtained by processing the captured image to examine encoded data content in a label and/or an imaging distortion present in the label. The labels, which can be barcode labels, are affixed to various object in the indoor facility.

  • Patent number: 10151590
Abstract: A non-time of flight or time of arrival position location system for accurate determination of a user's location in an enclosed, indoor, or covered environment can include a number of beacons mounted in an arrangement within the environment. Each of the beacons is mounted in a known location and transmits a broadcast signal containing a unique identifier that identifies the originating beacon. A handheld electronic device including a receiver and a communicably coupled processor can receive broadcast signals from at least some of the number of beacons, iteratively determine a vector quantity corresponding to each of the received signals, and sum the resultant vector quantities to determine an updated position. The iterative process can be repeated until consecutive iterations yield an updated position that falls within a defined threshold.

  • Patent number: 8300928
Abstract: A system and method for locating a target region in an image is disclosed. In one embodiment a method includes automatically locating a signature field in a target region of an image captured by a barcode reader, where the target region includes rectangular boundaries defined by graphical delimiters in the image. One embodiment of the method includes, generating a binary-colored image, optionally performing de-speckling, generating a search pattern comprising multiple search locations that spatially correspond with pixels in the image, identifying a darker-shaded pixel in the multiple search pixels as a candidate pixel that is a portion of one of multiple graphical delimiters, analyzing colors of neighboring pixels of the candidate pixel to compute a weight value of the candidate pixel, and/or saving the candidate pixel as a located graphical delimiter of multiple graphical delimiters if the weight value of the candidate pixel exceeds or approximates a weight threshold.
