  • Patent number: 4421904
Abstract: Epoxy functional diorganosiloxane fluids are combined with bis-aryl iodonium salts, particularly linear alkylate bis-dodecylphenyl iodonium salts to form a silicone coating composition effective for rendering surfaces non-adherent to other surfaces which would normally adhere thereto, and which will cure to a final non-adherent state upon brief exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Adhesion of the silicone coating to a substrate can be improved with the addition of .beta.-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimethoxy silane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 1981
Date of Patent: December 20, 1983
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Richard P. Eckberg, Ronald W. LaRochelle

  • Patent number: 4102941
Abstract: A method is provided for making silarylenesiloxane-polydiorganosiloxane block polymers, based on the reaction between a silarylenesilanediol and a silanol terminated polydiorganosiloxane in the presence of a condensation catalyst in the form of an amine salt of certain carboxylic acids. A carbonyl containing organic compound, such as phthalic anhydride, is employed prior to a subsequent devolatilization step to facilitate the removal of amine-carboxylic acid catalyst residues.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 3965134
Abstract: A method is provided for making silarylenesilanediol. An aqueous mixture of a dialkoxy silarylene and a water miscible organic solvent, such as acetone, is refluxed. Water is combined with the resulting mixture to effect the separation of silarylenesilanediol which can be used to make polysilarylenesiloxanes.

  • Patent number: 3959403
Abstract: A method is provided for making silarylenesilanediol, silarylenesiloxanediol and block copolymers of silarylenesiloxane and polydiorganosiloxane, useful as high-strength silicone rubber. Silarylenesiloxanediols can be prepared by heating an aqueous mixture of a dialkoxy silarylene and a water miscible organic solvent such as acetone, followed by distilling volatiles from the mixture. A mixture of the silarylenesilanediol or silarylenesiloxanediol, a silanol-terminated polydiorganosiloxane, organic solvent and a condensation catalyst can then be heated to effect removal of water of condensation to produce silarylenesiloxane block copolymer.
