Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a semi-automated system and method for assessment of student work product. The method may comprise obtaining a plurality of student work product from a plurality of students, identifying motifs present in the student work product, forming a subset of motifs, clustering the work product into clusters based on the subset of motifs, receiving an assessment from a teacher relevant to clusters and providing assessment for a work product based on the cluster assessment. Methods according to embodiments of the invention may reduce teachers' review and feedback time and increase consistency and quality of feedback given to students.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a data set including medical information of respective patients, respective types of a clinical procedure performed on the patients, and respective survival rates of the patients. A survival tree graph is generated by maximizing a cost function of differences in the survival rates between the types of the clinical treatment procedure. A type of the clinical procedure is selected for a given patient, based on the survival tree graph.

Abstract: A social character recognition system includes a user profile constructer and a data analyzer. The user profile constructer generates a user profile from user's social information available on the internet and from other external information, the user profile having multiple scales, where the lowest scale includes the raw data, higher scales aggregate the data into generic attributes and the topmost level defines a social character of the user. The data analyzer calculates similarities at least between a first user profile and a second user profile based on weighted functions of distances between the each of the scales in the user profiles.
