Each bay of the automated store outlet is normally locked, and after the customer accesses the bay can remove one or more items from the bay, which are automatically detected and identified and charged to the customer as part of the purchase transaction. These events occur at the location of each automated store outlet. Each automated store outlet communicates with a central control center, which can be used for live customer service and real time surveillance.

Abstract: A system and method is provided that allows consumers to locate a restaurant in a network of restaurants participating in the system, notify the restaurant of the consumers' impending visit, review the menu and order food at the restaurant, communicate with wait staff and other restaurant workers at the restaurant, and view and pay the check, all using the consumer's smartphone or other mobile communications device. The system also detects the consumer's presence at the participating restaurant, and it establishes an active transaction between the consumer and the restaurant from the time the consumer first enters the establishment until the consumer's payment is processed and the transaction is completed. Abstract: A multi-purpose retail display merchandising cavity is provided. An insulated case defines an internal product display area. The internal display area can be non-refrigerated and may only use a detachable fan cooling cartridge to maintain the ambient room temperature inside the internal product display area. Alternatively, the cavity can become refrigerated when a detachable refrigerated cooling cartridge is used to refrigerate the internal display area, thus allowing the cabinet to be easily and interchangeably used as either a dry goods cabinet for non-refrigerated goods or as a refrigerator for refrigerated goods.
