  • Publication number: 20140065041
Abstract: Methods and systems include an operation to interpret a face-plugging index and/or a reduction in an expected oxidation efficiency of an oxidation catalyst disposed in an internal combustion engine aftertreatment system, and in response to the face-plugging index or the reduction oxidation efficiency reaching a threshold value, an operation to provide a catalyst element reversal command.

  • Publication number: 20070056271
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for determining the distribution of particulate matter on a particulate filter. The apparatus, in one embodiment, determines a first distribution of particulate matter by comparing the pressure change across the particulate filter with a change in engine operating conditions. The apparatus may include an input module for receiving input corresponding to engine operating conditions and input from a differential pressure sensor and a feedback module to determine a first distribution of particulate matter. The apparatus may further include a feed forward module for determining a particulate distribution trend and a selection control module to combine the first distribution of particulate matter with the particulate distribution trend to determine a second distribution of particulate matter. The distribution may be defined as a uniform distribution factor in certain embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20050207936
Abstract: A system for diagnosing the quality of a reagent solution may comprise a reagent solution source for supplying the reagent solution to an emissions catalyst of an internal combustion engine. Means may be provided for determining a quality value corresponding to the quality of the reagent solution. A first filter may receive the quality value and produce a first filtered quality value, and a first comparator may compare the filtered quality value to a threshold and produce a fault value if the first filtered quality value crosses the threshold. Alternatively or additionally, a second filter may receive the quality value and produce a second filtered quality value. A second comparator may compare a difference between the first and second filtered quality values to another threshold and produce another fault value if the difference crosses that threshold.

  • Patent number: 6107917
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating between a host and a motor vehicle, the motor vehicle including an on board computer system having a bus for communicating with a plurality of motor vehicle systems. The apparatus includes an electronic tag having a transceiver for transmitting data to and receiving data from the host, a memory for storing bus requests and bus response data, a decoder for decoding requests from the host, a bus interface for reading data from and writing data to the bus, a controller and a filter. The bus interface extracts responses from the bus responsive to requests from the host. The responses may be stored in the memory. The controller is responsive to write requests from the host to transfer data to the bus interface and responsive to read requests from the host to transfer data stored in memory back to the host. The filter is operable to filter responses received from the bus and includes a filter database.
