  • Patent number: 11339078
Abstract: A method of reducing the volume of float bath atmosphere lost from an opening in the exit end of the float bath is described. The method comprises directing a first jet of fluid having a first jet velocity followed by a second jet velocity towards a plane a conveyance for a float glass ribbon. An obstruction in the path of the first jet of fluid causes the jet to change from the second to a third jet velocity. The obstruction may be a portion of a roller positioned outside the opening or a float glass ribbon that has been formed on a surface of molten metal contained in the float bath that has subsequently been transferred through the opening. A float bath having sealing means to reduce atmosphere loss from an exit of the float bath is also described, as is an assembly useful in carrying out the aforementioned methods.

  • Publication number: 20210319159
Abstract: Concepts, systems and methods are described for generating a quantum circuit from a Unitary Coupled Cluster (UCC) ansatz which represents the excitation of a reference state by a parameterised operator including excitation operators. The UCC ansatz includes multi-qubit Pauli operators, referred to as Pauli strings, determined from each excitation operator. The method comprises partitioning the Pauli strings into mutually commuting sets and sequencing the Pauli strings by set. Pauli gadgets are then generated from the Pauli strings by Trotterization, the Pauli gadgets having the same sequencing by set as the Pauli strings. Each set of Pauli gadgets is diagonalised to convert the Pauli gadgets into phase gadgets which are then transformed into one- and two-qubit native gates to generate the quantum circuit.

  • Patent number: 11132509
Abstract: A speech interface device is configured to perform natural language understanding (NLU) processing in a manner that optimizes the use of resources on the speech interface device. In an example process, a domain classifier(s) is used to generate domain classifier scores associated with multiple candidate domains, and the candidate domains can then be evaluated, one candidate domain at a time, in accordance with the domain classifier scores (e.g., starting with a highest scoring candidate domain). For each candidate domain undergoing the evaluation, input data is by that domain's NLU model(s), and, as soon as a domain-specific NLU model(s) produces a NLU result with a confidence score that satisfies a threshold confidence score, the evaluation can be stopped for any remaining candidate domains.

  • Patent number: 10848725
Abstract: Systems and methods for allocating display colors to thermal image intensity data acquired by thermal band photodetectors. Intensity data from the photodetectors corresponding to scene temperature is converted to a digital value within an analog to digital conversion (ADC) range. The full ADC range may be divided into two or more sub-ranges. In one sub-range, intensity values within that sub-range are assigned display colors from a first color table utilizing one or more Histogram Equalization (HE) techniques. In another sub-range, specific display values from a color table different from the first may be are assigned to specific intensity values. Lower temperatures may be assigned colors using HE and higher temperatures are assigned specific colors corresponding to specific temperatures. Such an arrangement is particularly applicable to thermal imaging use by firefighters because the arrangement allows them to determine temperature directly from displayed color for potentially dangerous temperatures.

  • Publication number: 20200261297
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for assisting with procedures involving a subject's joint, such as a joint. Robotic devices move and position the subject to manipulate the joint and sensing devices sense the joint gap. The robotic devices are controlled based on the joint gap. Novel techniques are disclosed for joint gap segmentation, approximating an uncertainty in determination of the varying dimension of the joint gap, and real-time motion analysis of the joint gap size. In some examples, a kinematic model of the patient's anatomy is utilized to provide robotically assisted manipulation of the same using the techniques described herein.
