  • Patent number: 8954284
Abstract: Methods of inducing movement and interaction of molecules in an electric field of an electrophoretic device that is configured to cause molecules to move on a convergent path to mimic a living cell. The electrophoretic device is constructed to support an isoelectric focusing medium, such as a gel on a gel plate with spaced charged poles having different configurations to induce non-parallel migration, and in particular to induce convergent migration wherein spacially separated groups of like-kind molecules are driven on pathways to proximity with other group or groups of like-kind molecules. In this manner researchers may devise experiments with multiple substances to track pathways of interaction during osmotic diffusion and polar directed migration through the medium that simulates pathways in a biological cell. The experiment with select substances may be conducted with controlled variations in medium, potential and temperature.

  • Patent number: 7826974
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of using the apparatus for inducing movement and interaction of molecules in an electric field of an electrophoretic device that is circular in configuration to mimic a living cell. The circular electrophoretic device supports an isoelectric focusing medium, such as a gel on a gel plate with one charged circular pole at the center and an oppositely charged concentric pole at the perimeter of the plate whereupon molecular substances having electronegative or electropositive charges placed in the gel will tend to migrate toward the oppositely charged pole to their isoelectric points, allowing researchers to devise experiments with multiple substances to track pathways of interaction during osmotic diffusion and polar directed migration through the medium that parallel pathways in a biological cell, the device having a thermal control for regulating the temperature of the analytical experiments using the device.

  • Patent number: 4901897
Abstract: A convertible garment bag is fabricated with alternate carrying means to permit the bag to be transported by the luggage handle, a shoulder strap or a backpack harness, thereby enabling a traveler to include in a single bag both formal wear and casual wear for all occasions, and, allowing the traveler the option of carrying the bag as conventional travel luggage or as a mountaineering pack. The garment bag is constructed in the form of an elongated casing with a hook at one end to hand the casing and contained garments for temporary storage with minimal wrinkling of the contained garments. The casing has a perimeter closure device to enable the casing to fold into multiple segments that interfasten to form a unitary compact pack for convenient transport by one of the alternate carrying means.
