  • Patent number: 7435180
Abstract: A thrust reverser system drive shaft assembly is provided that includes a first shaft and a barrel. The first shaft has an end section and comprises an age-hardenable martinsitic steel alloy material having fracture toughness, stress corrosion cracking resistance, and a tensile strength of at least about 285 ksi during an impact rotational speed of at least about 14,000 rpm. The barrel has a first end, a second end, and a channel formed therethrough. The first end has the first shaft end section disposed therein. The barrel comprises steel alloy material that is different than the first shaft material, has an elongation of at least about 12% in a hardened condition, and is compatible to be welded to the first shaft material.

  • Patent number: 6991425
Abstract: An air turbine starter for use in aircraft or other gas turbine engine applications. In a particular embodiment, the air turbine starter has a titanium unitary inlet structure. The unitary inlet structure has a housing having a longitudinal centerline. The housing defines an air inlet, a mounting surface, and a flow path therebetween. Integrally formed inside the housing and transverse to the longitudinal centerline is a stator for directing the flow of air in to the turbine blades of the turbine starter. The stator has a central circular body with a plurality of angularly spaced circumferentially mounted stator fins. An improved unitary inlet structure and method for making such a unitary inlet and stator are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6831237
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for activating switches in a leading edge flap drive actuator. The apparatus comprises a mount plate having at least a first side, a second side, and an outer peripheral surface, an actuator arm rotationally coupled to the mount plate and rotationally moveable between at least an activate position and a deactivate position, and a spring arm coupled to the mount plate and extending away from the mount plate outer perpheral surface, the spring arm configured to supply a force that biases the actuator arm toward the deactivate position at least when the actuator arm is in the activate position.
