  • Patent number: 5372208
Abstract: A pair of elongated cylindrical members are constructed with first and second collars extending axially beyond their adjoining ends. The first and second collars have adjoining indentations and projections at their end edges which are adapted to interlock with one another so as to prevent rotation of the two elongated members with respect to one another. A coupler is removably fitted over the exterior of the first and second collars and holds them together against axial movement with respect to one another. The collars are each welded to the axial ends of the first and second cylindrical members. A sampling tube section is provided having slots to allow the fluid to be sampled to enter the internal bore of the tube. The slots are axial, and are spaced apart both angularly and axially. The slots are tapered so as to have a narrower width at the outer surface of the tube than at the inner surface of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4821818
Abstract: The present invention comprises first and second auger sections having upper and lower ends. The lower end of the first auger section is detachably secured to the upper end of the second auger section. The lower end of the first auger section includes a collar having axially extending indentations and projecting therein. The upper end of the second auger section includes a similar collar having axially extending projections and indentations therein. The two collars are matingly interlocked to prevent rotation of the augers sections with respect to one another. A detachable coupler surrounds the interlocked first and second collar means and holds them against axial movement away from one another. A seal causes the two ends to be sealed with respect to one another so that fluid cannot enter the internal bore of the tube sections.

  • Patent number: 4387845
Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention is used for holding and cooling a metal tube during welding. The tube has a cylindrical bore of predetermined diameter extending therethrough. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical mandrel having a bore extending axially therethrough. The bore has a central portion of reduced diameter and has outwardly tapering portions at its opposite ends. The mandrel also has a plurality of elongated axially extending slots formed in the walls of the mandrel so as to permit the mandrel to expand radially outwardly. Cam means are positioned within the mandrel bore and are adapted to be moved to cause outward radial expansion of the mandrel. The method of the present invention comprises placing the mandrel within the cylindrical bore of the metal tube, and expanding the mandrel radially outwardly against the inner surface of the metal tube, so as to hold the tube in place and cool it during welding.

  • Patent number: 4384511
Abstract: An improved hydraulic cylinder has built-in variable adjustments for allowing selectively adjustable orientation of the barrel and hydraulic port thereon with respect to the bottom clevis and the hydraulic port thereon. The two hydraulic ports or connectors can be rotated to various orientations with respect to one another, merely by unthreading and loosening a locking collar, rotating the bottom clevis to the desired position, and rethreading and tightening the locking collar.

  • Patent number: 4299144
Abstract: The hand tool of the present invention is utilized for rotating a nut threadably mounted on a bolt or shaft, the nut having a pin receiving hole located radially outwardly from its axis. The tool comprises an elongated handle portion having a blunt radius end for receiving blows from a hammer and having a second end opposite from the blunt end. The second end includes at least one pin adapted to matingly fit within the hole in the nut. The nut can be turned by inserting the pin within the hole and by striking the blunt end of the tool handle so as to impart a rotational force to the nut.

  • Patent number: 4060259
Abstract: The present invention comprises an elongated implement, having an elongated implement frame, implement wheels, pivotal about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the implement, and tongue means extending transversely from the longitudinal axis of the implement intermediate the ends thereof. A transporting wheel assembly is mounted to the implement frame and comprises a pair of spaced apart vertical legs, each of which have upper and lower leg members which are vertically extensibly mounted with respect to one another. Each of the lower leg members has a transporting wheel mounted thereon for rotation about an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the implement. Power means are connected to the legs for causing vertical extensive movement thereof from a retracted position wherein the wheels are above the implement wheels to an extended position wherein the transporting wheels are below the implement wheels.
