  • Patent number: 8618740
Abstract: A photographic illumination system, comprising a first stroboscopic flash tube, for emitting an intense broadband illumination pulse comprising ultraviolet rays; a second stroboscopic flash tube, for emitting a continuous series of broadband illumination pulses comprising ultraviolet rays; an optional filter, within a common optical path of the first and second stroboscopic flash tubes, for filtering a portion of the broadband illumination; and a control, for synchronizing the illumination pulse of the first stroboscopic flash tube with an external trigger pulse, wherein the second stroboscopic flash tube provides an output suitable for use by a human, unaided by viewing accessories, to compose a subject at a distance from the first and second stroboscopic flash tubes, and the first stroboscopic flash tube provides an output pulse suitable for exposure of an image capture medium.

  • Patent number: 7712906
Abstract: A light guide adapter for a camera stroboscopic illuminator, comprising a removable mounting adapted to adhere to an unmodified on-camera stroboscopic illuminator; and at least one flexible light guide, connected to the mounting, having an entrance aperture positioned to receive light from the stroboscopic illuminator, each light guide having a self-supporting, independently positionable exit aperture distal from the entrance aperture.

  • Patent number: 7576911
Abstract: A microscope illuminator system suitable for both critical source illumination and Köhler-type illumination without substantially altering the elements within the optical path. The system preferably provides a continuous range of adjustment from critical type illumination to Köhler-type illumination, and beyond. Further, the microscope illuminator system preferably employs a fiber optic illuminator providing both incandescent continuous illumination and stroboscopic illumination.

  • Patent number: 7030571
Abstract: A photographic illumination system, comprising a first stroboscopic flash tube, for emitting an intense broadband illumination pulse comprising ultraviolet rays; a second stroboscopic flash tube, for emitting a rapid series of broadband illumination pulses comprising ultraviolet rays; an optional filter, within a common optical path of the first and second stroboscopic flash tubes, for filtering a portion of the broadband illumination; and a control, for synchronizing the illumination pulse of the first stroboscopic flash tube with an external trigger pulse, wherein the second stroboscopic flash tube provides an output suitable for use by a human, unaided by viewing accessories, to compose a subject at a distance from the first and second stroboscopic flash tubes, and the first stroboscopic flash tube provides an output pulse suitable for exposure of an image capture medium. Both tubes are preferably manufactured to maintain the same spectral signature by adjusting fill pressure and gas mixture.

  • Patent number: 6402358
Abstract: A fiber optic illumination system having a plurality of fiber optic heads, each head producing pilot and strobe illumination from an exit aperture, one or more pilot lamps, each producing a pilot light output, and one or more strobes, each producing an illumination flash pulse, wherein each fiber optic head produces a pilot light having an intensity which has a predefined relationship to an intensity of an illumination flash pulse from that head, and fiber optic head produces an illumination flash pulse which has an equivalent color. Means are provided for varying the relative output of each fiber optic head.
