  • Publication number: 20240165362
Abstract: A connector is provided for coupling with an invasive patient interface for providing respiratory support to a patient. The connector comprises a connector body having: (i) an inlet port couplable with a flow source providing a flow of respiratory gas; (ii) a gases exit port; and (iii) a device port couplable with the invasive patient interface. The connector also has a lumen having a first end and a second end. The connector body defines a gas flow path between the inlet port and both the device port and the lumen first end and the lumen second end is disposed outside the device port. The lumen provides improved CO2 clearance. Some embodiments provide for gas sampling and/or variable expiratory resistance.

  • Publication number: 20240024603
Abstract: A system for providing respiratory support to a subject includes a flow source for providing a gas at a selected flow rate, an invasive respiratory device couplable with an airway of the subject, and a connector for coupling with the invasive respiratory device. The connector includes a main body having a gases port for receiving a flow of gas from the flow source, an outlet port for outflow of gases from the main body, and a device port couplable with the invasive respiratory device. The gases port includes an inlet and an outlet. The connector is configured to receive the flow of gas from the flow source via the inlet of the gases port, and to deliver a jet flow of gas through the outlet of the gases port. The system may be configurable e.g. to generate a pressure of at least about 2 cmH2O about the device port when in use.

  • Publication number: 20100287032
Abstract: The present invention is systems and methods for matching desired purchases and sales of mis-matched items. These systems and methods compare the requirements of potential buyers and sellers of items against those of sets of other potential buyers and sellers of items to construct transaction sets that will enable an optimal transaction or set of transactions for the parties involved. The present invention may be used to match purchases and sales of any items, such as goods, services, financial instruments, and property interests (e.g., ownership interests in real property, possessory interests in personal property, etc.).

  • Patent number: 7290898
Abstract: A mobile illumination apparatus. A universal clamp for attaching to wide range objects such that a broad range of clamping abilities are achieved. Incorporating into the clamp a self-locking ratcheting mechanism for adjusting over a range of spans and fold-out fingers for applying force to the object; the clamp folds up against or into the apparatus for transport or storage. An extendable-and-retractable neck mounting for a transducing-element head thereon, for activating-deactivating the transducing-element, and moving the head to hold an orientation so as to illuminate a region-of-immediate-interest or a particular target. Drive and control circuitry to maintain the illumination intensity substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 6987637
Abstract: A perpendicular magnetic recording system is provided which eliminates unwanted side writing to adjacent recording tracks due to the skew angle effect. The system includes a perpendicular magnetic recording head with a write pole that is used to sequentially write to adjacent tracks of a magnetic recording disk. In one embodiment, the write pole is aligned at a compensation angle with respect to the recording tracks which remains greater than zero as the recording head travels in an arc across the disk. When the recording head moves radially inwardly or outwardly across the tracks of the disk, the compensation angle remains greater than zero. Any side writing by the write pole to adjacent tracks is eliminated as the write pole sequentially writes to the next adjacent track. By eliminating the skew angle effect, smaller spacings may be provided between adjacent tracks, thereby increasing data storage densities.

  • Patent number: 6660357
Abstract: Magnetic recording media having a biased soft magnetic underlayer are disclosed. The soft magnetic underlayer includes at least two soft magnetic layers separated by a thin non-magnetic layer. Magnetostatic coupling between the soft magnetic layers causes the magnetizations in the layer to be anti-parallel. The biased soft magnetic underlayer is brought into a substantially single-domain state, thereby reducing or eliminating unwanted noise in the soft underlayer. In a preferred embodiment, the recording media includes a perpendicular magnetic recording disk.

  • Patent number: 5673447
Abstract: A foot support for a bed rests on the upper surface of the mattress and includes an upwardly inclined foot plate. Lateral motion and twisting of the foot support with respect to the mattress are prevented by downwardly depending fences that lie adjacent the sides of the mattress. In a preferred embodiment, the foot support consists entirely of flat stock which results in a unitary structure that is easy to clean and that nests so that a number of the foot supports can be stacked for storage in a relatively small space.
