  • Publication number: 20240113364
Abstract: High voltage battery contactor welding prevention techniques for an electrified vehicle include, in response to a request to perform a high voltage connection procedure, utilizing a supervisory controller to monitor a voltage of the low voltage battery system to determine whether a low voltage battery system of the vehicle has a voltage level sufficient to open/hold the set of contactors during the high voltage connection procedure, when the low voltage battery system has sufficient voltage, commanding by the supervisory controller to a sub-controller to perform the high voltage connection procedure, and when the low voltage battery system does not have sufficient voltage, displaying a low voltage indicator for a user to recharge the low voltage battery system before the high voltage connection procedure can occur.

  • Publication number: 20240067160
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle having an engine, a high voltage battery, a low voltage battery and at least one charge enabling component and system for operating the same includes enabling charging of the low voltage battery from a high voltage battery through a DC-DC converter, charging the low voltage battery with the high voltage battery and the at least one charge enabling component comprising at least the DC-DC converter and detecting a fault in the at least one charge enabling component. Based on the fault, the system performs enabling charging of the low voltage battery from a starter generator based on the fault and disabling charging of the low voltage battery from the high voltage battery using the DC-DC converter.

  • Patent number: 11872869
Abstract: A battery control system for a battery electric vehicle is configured to detect that a driver door of the vehicle has been opened and connect the battery system to an electrical system of the vehicle to power at least a cabin heater and defroster of the vehicle, detect a driver start request, determine whether a set of battery parameters satisfy a threshold indicative of the battery system being sufficiently conditioned for driving of the vehicle, and when the set of battery parameters satisfy the threshold, display, via the user interface, a first message indicating that the vehicle is ready to drive and allow the driver to drive the vehicle and driving is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20230150386
Abstract: Electrified vehicle battery overcharge protection techniques monitor an intelligent battery sensor (IBS) current signal via a controller area network communication (CAN-C) bus and an output current of an auxiliary power module (APM) when the IBS current signal is unavailable. A controller then intelligently adjusts charging of the battery system to be battery current-based, battery temperature-based, or at predetermined constant value, based on a determined validity of the IBS current signal, the measured battery system current, and an awake/asleep status and responsiveness of the CAN-C bus.
