  • Publication number: 20050195601
Abstract: An operating lamp includes a lamp body for receiving a light source, a first light source housed in the lamp body and adapted for illuminating an illumination area of an operating area, and a second light source housed in the lamp body and adapted for illuminating a central portion of the illumination area. The brightness of the second light source is controllable independently of the brightness of the first light source to enhance the brightness of the central portion of the illumination area.

  • Patent number: 6582092
Abstract: A lamp, in particular a lamp for medical applications (operating lamps), having at least one light source, and at least two reflectors, is provided where in order to form a low-shadow illuminated area, light emerging from the lamp impinges upon the illuminated area by at least two different angles of incidence, such that the angles of incidence of the light can be adjusted by changing the distance between the at least two reflectors or between one reflector and the source of the light. The at least two reflectors may be arranged so that they can shift in the radial direction on carrier rails that extend radially from the center of the lamp. In this arrangement, the reflectors always lie on a common circular circumference, and the reflectors can be shifted through manually activated gears or through electric drive motors.

  • Patent number: 6511210
Abstract: An operating-room lighting device with an inner lighting unit that includes at least one discharge lamp and an inner reflector in a housing. The lighting unit is at least partially enclosed by an outer annular housing with an annularly or polygonally designed reflector for convergent deviation of light emitted by the lighting unit into an illumination field. The outer reflector includes, on its side facing the inner lighting unit, a closed transparent surface whose back adjoins a reflective layer. The reflective layer is applied to the back of the transparent surface. The inner lighting unit and the outer reflector are held together by a connecting member, which is articulated to a curved intermediate piece for attachment to a stationary support.

  • Patent number: 6498436
Abstract: In order to make continuous lamp operation in a failsafe lamp, particularly a lamp for medical applications, having a discharge lamp possible even When changing over between a power supply system (low voltage supply system of, for example, 24 V) and an additional safety power supply (ZSV), a buffer store is discharged in the event of a fault in the power supply for a supply unit for the lamp by changing over to a standby power source, or, once the fault has been elitinated, from the standby power source back to the normal power supply, the buffer store outputting electrical energy to operate the discharge lamp. The electrical energy supplied to the supply unit (EVG) first passes through a full-wave rectifier and is then supplied to a voltage converter containig the buffer store. The discharge lamp is subsequently supplied with the electrical energy via a power-regulated inverter. Thus, it is ensured that, even for changeover procedures with different current types—e.g.

  • Publication number: 20020080237
Abstract: For the video recording of a field illuminated by a lamp, especially a surgical lamp, where at least one light beam for illuminating the field emerges from a light exit area of a lamp housing in the direction of a predetermined housing axis, the optical axis of a video camera mounted with freedom to swivel a certain distance away from the exit point of the light beam is shifted automatically by a positioning element until the axis at least approximately intersects the light beam in the area of the illuminated field. The positioning element is driven by signals from a control unit. The video camera is preferably shifted in a stepwise manner. The distance to the illuminated field is determined by the fine focusing of the camera by the autofocus function, and then signals are transmitted from the control unit to the positioning element of the camera to compensate for the parallax between the optical axis of the camera and the light beam or beams emerging from the lamp.

  • Patent number: 6030103
Abstract: An operating room light with ceiling suspension is provided with a shaft protruding from the ceiling and containing internal electrical conductors, the shaft being enveloped in its end region by a support body provided on its outer circumference with slip rings for establishing electrical connections between the shaft and the conductors contained in a swivel arm; the swivel arm is provided with a swivel arm head as part of a rotary joint, which envelops the support body and which contains on its barrel-shaped inside slip ring pickups for making contact with the slip rings of the support body; viewed in axial direction, the support body is provided at both of its ends with bearing bushes functioning as sliding bearings, the upper bearing bush supporting an axial bearing ring that bears thereon to hold the swivel arm head; the support body together with the bearing bushes is secured against radial and axial shifting by means of threaded pins passed through openings in the pivot as well as by a locking ring held

  • Patent number: 5934888
Abstract: An aspirator pump, especially for medical purposes, has a receptacle with two chambers arranged alongside each other, which are connected with a suction tube, and on each of which an element is arranged which is movable approximately parallel to the other, each partially enclosing a hollow space for generating a vacuum. The two movable elements are connected to each other by means of a lever, whose two end parts are attached at the upper area of the respective movable elements, and whose middle part is movably attached in a bearing positioned between the chambers. In the upper area of each movable element a one way valve is installed which opens when the pressure in the hollow space is higher than the surrounding air pressure. An easy operation and cleaning, as well as a reliable aspiration is obtained with the aspirator pump, owing to the fact that at all times a chamber and a movable element enclose a common, variable hollow space, wherein the movable element bounds the upper area of the hollow space.

  • Patent number: 5800051
Abstract: A medical lamp having a reflector in the shape of an ellipsoid of rotation containing on its interior side a plurality of facets which provide for a largely shadow-free illumination of the area to be lit. An opening is provided in the reflector, which is surrounded by a ring flange. A lamp having a spiral-wound filament therein is inserted into the ring flange so that its bulb is oriented towards the surface of the reflector where the light exits, whereby the spiral-wound filament in the bulb is positioned along the reflector axis. The bulb has a base with a cylindrical portion which is adjacent to a plate flange. The cylindrical portion of the base is encircled by the ring flange of the reflector opening in such a manner that the bulb is secured against shifting in the radial direction of the reflector axis.

  • Patent number: 5707144
Abstract: A lamp housing for a surgical lamp having a light exit opening at one end thereof, an access opening disposed on a side opposite from the light exit opening and a cover member for closing the access opening. The cover member is attached to a pivotable spring member located in the interior of the housing. The cover member is held in the access opening through spring action by a flange-type circumferential flange on the inside of an edge surrounding the access opening. The spring member is a leaf spring connected to the cover member and is pivotably hinged to the interior of the lamp housing. By applying external pressure to the cover member, the cover member is inserted into the housing and shifted along the interior of the lamp housing by a swivel motion to the extent that access, for example, for changing the bulb, without difficulty.

  • Patent number: 5685661
Abstract: A rotation joint has two joint elements arranged for rotation with respect to each other about an axle, a cam ring arranged coaxial to the axle in a housing and having a curved track with a spatial curvature, a spring guide element arranged on the axle with springs disposed coaxial to the axle around the spring guide element, and bolts mounted radial to the axle and having bearings whose outer circumference lies in force-transmitting relation on the curved track. In order to make a rotation joint with weight compensation which guarantees sure functioning, and at the same time can be produced economically by a simple construction and a compact structure, the housing is essentially formed by the two joint elements. The spring guide element is rigidly connected with a first joint element, and the cam ring is arranged on the spring guide element and capable of axial motion, but the second joint element is locked against a movement in the direction of the axle, and the bolts are fixed in the second joint element.
