  • Patent number: 5882159
Abstract: An element, for example an element with a hollow body or a bolt element, in particular a nut element, for attachment to a plate-like component, has a ring-shaped recess or annular groove present at an end face of the element facing the component within a raised ring-shaped contact surface. At least one undercut is preferably provided in a side wall of the recess, and also features radial recesses and noses which extend into the ring recess providing security against rotation. A cylindrical punch section or pilot concentric to the central longitudinal axis of the element projects at the said end face within the ring-shaped recess and the outer boundary wall of the cylindrical punch section preferably has ring-shaped undercut.

  • Patent number: 5161377
Abstract: A method and installation for generating energy using the BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) reaction wherein condensate is pumped from an expansion chamber and is fed to a first heat exchanger. There, the liquid gas is heated in a first step to a certain temperature. The liquid gas is heated in a second heat exchanger with a safety valve to a higher temperature and, while expanding, is introduced via a pre-expansion valve, at the end of a feed line, to a BLEVE-reaction chamber. The BLEVE-reaction takes place in the reaction chamber, during which gas is released and supplied via the outlet pipe to a gas turbine. The gas turbine drives a generator. The turbine and the generator may be housed in the closed expansion chamber. The cycle of the method is controlled by means of a regulating control. The method described is particularly suited for a thermal power plant, the waste heat of which is transformed into electricity.

  • Patent number: 5090494
Abstract: A balance with a system carrier (1) fixed to the housing and with a balance-scale support part (2) connected by two upper and two lower guide rod struts in the form of a parallel guide to the system carrier. Each upper guide rod strut is connected to a lower guide rod strut via two connection areas, which struts are combined to a guide rod plate (5,6). The two guide rod plates (5,6) are fastened laterally to the system carrier (1) and to the balance-scale support part (2). The system carrier (1) is wider than the balance-scale support part (2). The two screw attachment surfaces for the guide rod plates (5,6) on the system carrier (1) and on the balance-scale support part (2) form an angle with one another so that the system carrier (1), the two guide rod plates (5,6) and the balance-scale support part (2) form a trapezoid when viewed from the top.

  • Patent number: 5085577
Abstract: A burner is of generally tubular configuration, and comprises an inner shell and an outer shell. The inner shell has therein a nozzle, an ignition electrode, and a sight tube. An annular gap is provided between the two shells, through which a comburant-gas flows to an annular, inwardly directed and constricted discharge opening, with swirl blades upstream of the discharge opening. A comburant-gas supply passes through openings in the inner shell upstream of a baffle which is positioned transversely of the inner shell, and which has radial slots therein inclined to the plane of the baffle to cause swirling of comburant-gas passing through the slots in the baffle. A toroidal-cyclone combustion zone is created due to the slots in the baffle creating a swirling downstream flow downstream of the baffle, and the inwardly directed annular and constricted opening, which aspirates comburant-gas which has passed through the baffle.

  • Patent number: 4958994
Abstract: The gear machine comprises a housing in which two gears mounted on shaft journals mesh. The shaft journals are supported in bushing or eyeglass-shaped bearing members. Located between the latter and the lateral surfaces of the gears are sealing plates which are brought into sealing contact with the lateral surfaces of the gears by axially-acting pressure fields. Relief grooves are formed circumferentially in the outer circumference of the bearing members and are spaced from and adjacent to the sealing plates. These relief grooves communicate with the low-pressure sdide of the gear machine and attain an optimal sealing action.

  • Patent number: 4866831
Abstract: A support is disclosed for a synchronizing ring for the synchronization of gears, in which the stops for coupling to the clutch are formed from lugs which are bonded integrally to the sprocket ring or ring-shaped core. The support is produced economically by a method of punching a flat ring and drawing it into a conical ring-shaped part with an outer radial edge, forming the part and punching an outer sprocket and lugs in the edge, bending the lugs alongside the part to form stops and stamping the tooth profile for the sprocket. The flat ring may also be punched with inwardly extending lugs which are then bent upwardly along the body to form the stops.

  • Patent number: 4811693
Abstract: An article adapted to be dispensed from aircraft onto large surface areas for the purpose of beneficially influencing the environment which employs a hollow casing having at least one opening whereby when at least one item for producing such influence is stored in the casing, the item will be released through the opening to the adjacent surface areas to initiate the influence on the environment after the casing is in landed position. At least one of the items is disposed in the casing. A structural arrangement is secured to the casing to prevent the casing when in landed position from being in direct contact with the surface area, thus shielding the item from the adverse influence of local weather.

  • Patent number: 4785764
Abstract: A casing in the form of cylindrical hollow body is terminated at one end by a base and is optionally provided with a hanger. The other end of the cylindrical hollow body is covered by a cover. The cover has a gauze arranged in a frame. The gauze meshes have a clearly defined cross-sectional surface. Useful organisms are placed in a protected manner in the hollow body and only those useful organisms having a desired size can pass through the gauze. The casing is treated by chemical or physical means so that it will remain intact and the organisms contained therein will be protected for a time period predetermined by such treatment. As the casing is made from non-toxic materials, its decomposition at the end of the intactness period does not adversely effect the environment.

  • Patent number: 4703646
Abstract: A method for using a dynamic gas sensor for analysis and detection of one or more gases or gas components of a gas mixture includes using the response time constant for the gas sensor to the gas as a measured value so that detection ensues from the response time constant. Selectively different behavior and sensitivities of the gas sensor occurs by selection of its operating temperature, or by varying the temperature, or by modulation of its temperature at predetermined frequencies. A sensor for use in the present method may include a heating element integrated therewith and may also include a plurality of detectors arranged in an array.
