  • Patent number: 7060509
Abstract: The invention is used in the field of materials engineering and relates to a method for defining reference magnetizations which could be used, for example, in magnetic sensor technology components. The object of the present invention is to disclose a method for defining reference magnetizations in layer systems, whereby the reference directions can be selected as desired with regard to number and spatial direction. The object is attained through a method for defining reference magnetizations in layer systems in which at least one layer system is produced by geometrically structuring a hard-magnetic and/or soft-magnetic layer and by applying the hard-magnetic and/or soft magnetic layer to at least one antiferromagnetic layer before, during or after a single-stage or multi-stage thermal treatment, whereby the temperature is increased at least to a temperature greater than the coupling temperature and the layer system is cooled afterwards.

  • Patent number: 5392169
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning a magnetic read/write head to substantially eliminate read-back pulse distortions associated with unfavorable magnetic domain patterns in the head stores the polarity of the last write current pulse of a write pulse train applied to the head-coils. This polarity is compared to a pre-determined reset current pulse polarity. If the last write current polarity is opposite to the reset current polarity, then a reset pulse, or a series of pulses, having the pre-determined reset polarity is applied to the head prior to performing a read operation with the head. The pre-determined reset polarity corresponds to the polarity that resets the head to the magnetic domain state most preferred for reading due to reduction of read-back distortion. The reset pulse, or pulse train, according to the present invention is of constant polarity. If the last write current pulse polarity is the same as the reset polarity, then no reset pulse is applied to the head.

  • Patent number: 4436430
Abstract: A device for mixing mortar with a liquid or foaming material includes a reservoir for the dry mortar, a housing containing a portion of a driven shaft with the housing terminating at one end in a mixing chamber; the mixing chamber contains a disc attached to the shaft and rotatable therewith; on one side of the disc, there is located radially extending mixing paddles or blades, the outer edges of the blades and the discs being spaced a predetermined distance to define a gap between the inner surface of the wall of the mixing chamber and the outer edge of the blades and disc; at one end of the mixing chamber an outlet is provided which is connected to a suction device and a baffle ring is situated about the outlet to divert material away from the suction inlet.

  • Patent number: 4306889
Abstract: An adsorber device for drying compressed gas comprises a first and a second chamber which operate alternately on drying and on regenerating the desiccant contained in the chambers. Regenerating is accomplished by branching-off a partial flow of dried gas at the outlet side of the chamber operating on drying and supplying the partial gas flow to the chamber working on regenerating. Means are provided for limiting the branched-off partial gas flow to the gas volume actually needed for regenerating. Embodiments are described wherein this gas limiting is accomplished with a constant partial gas flow prevailing between the two chambers and, further, embodiments are described wherein this partial gas flow is adjusted in accordance with the main gas flow through the chamber working on drying.
