    Abstract: A supported ceramic roller and a method for production and use thereof is provided, particularly as a guide roller in a non-ferrous rolling mill. A ceramic roller member is attached to a backing member, preferably metallic, by an adhesive which has the characteristic of acting as a thermal/mechanical stress barrier. The sidewalls of the ceramic roller member extend radially outward of the support member.
