    Abstract: Embodiments of a method and an apparatus for wireless communications are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for wireless communications involves generating a Physical Layer Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) that includes a resource unit (RU), wherein a size of the RU is less than a signal bandwidth and wherein data corresponding to the RU is distributed onto a disjoint set of subcarriers included in a frequency unit, and transmitting the PPDU using the disjoint set of subcarriers in accordance with a power spectrum density (PSD) limit.

    Abstract: A communication device determines that simultaneous transmission/reception via multiple frequency segments in a WLAN is not permitted, and transmits a first packet in a first frequency segment and a second packet in a second frequency segment. The communication device determines that an end of the first packet does not align with an end of the second packet and that the first packet and/or the second packet prompts transmission of a respective response packet a defined time period after transmission of the corresponding one of the first packet and the second packet. In response to having determined that simultaneous transmission/reception is not permitted and that the first packet and/or the second packet prompts transmission of the respective response packet, the communication device pads the first packet and/or the second packet so that an end of transmission of the first packet is aligned with an end of transmission of the second packet.

    Abstract: A method and system for generating an extended range (ER) physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) is disclosed. The PPDU has a legacy portion of the ER PPDU which comprises one or more of a legacy short training field (L-STF), a legacy long training field (L-LTF), and a universal signaling (U-SIG) field and an ER portion of the ER PPDU which is appended to the legacy portion. The ER portion comprises one or more repetitions of a ER short training field (ER-STF), a ER long training field (ER-LTF), a ER-signal (ER-SIG) field, and a ER data field. In an example, signals indicative of the one or more repetitions for a same field are combined by a receiver to increase a signal to noise ratio of a field.

The present disclosure uses materials with high electro-optical coefficient and low loss, such as lithium niobate, to replace thermal modulation resistors and the phase modulation mode based on carrier injection used in optical phased arrays, so that the optical phase modulation with low power consumption, high speed and low waveguide loss can be performed.

    Abstract: A first client station receives a multi-user physical layer (PHY) data unit from an access point. The multi-user PHY data unit includes i) a PHY preamble, and ii) a multi-user multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmission. The PHY preamble includes a subfield that indicates respective numbers of spatial streams allocated to respective client stations among a plurality of client station that includes the first client station. The subfield has been encoded according to an encoding that supports allocating up to sixteen spatial streams to up to eight intended receivers, and the subfield consists of six or fewer bits. The first client station decodes the subfield to determine a number of spatial streams allocated to the first client station and processes the determined number of spatial streams in the MU-MIMO transmission.
