  • Patent number: 7806737
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a first and second array of flexible beams that are overlapped within a hood and that define a substantially cylindrically cavity for receiving a mating connector. Contact areas of each of the flexible beams may be shaped to define multiple contact points, thus increasing the overall area available for current to pass.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 2008
Date of Patent: October 5, 2010
    Assignee: Methode Electronics, Inc.
Inventors: Gregory T. Mark, Andrew M. Wallace, Hannah Han, Walter William Wurster, Michael Allen Gustafson, Russell G. Larsen

  • Patent number: 6036519
Abstract: A circuit card connector utilizes flexible circuitry and a card-engagement assembly which applies a normal force to the contact pads of the circuit card. The connector includes two opposing connector end portions and a card-engagement assembly extending therebetween, the card-engagement assembly including two opposing spring members which are seated upon a pair of fulcrums. The spring members are spaced apart from each other on opposite sides of a centerline of a card-receiving slot of the connector. The spring members have lower leg portions and upper contact arm portions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 1997
Date of Patent: March 14, 2000
    Assignee: Molex Incorporated
Inventors: John E. Lopata, Russell G. Larsen
  • Patent number: 5911584
Abstract: A circuit card connector that utilizes flexible circuitry includes one or more isolator portions attached to its base that serve to substantially isolate the base of the connector from the circuit board to which the connector is mounted. The isolator portions include feet that extend out from the connector and which partially support the flexible circuitry. These isolator portions are made from thermally insulative material and serve to prevent heat transfer to the connector base from occurring during soldering of the flexible circuitry conductive portions to the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5458497
Abstract: A connector assembly for a electrically interconnecting two printed circuit board like members comprises a connector member for being mounted on a first printed circuit board like member. The connector member includes generally parallel-spaced electrical conductors for being electrically connected to electrical circuitry positioned on the first printed circuit board like member when the connector member is mounted on the first printed circuit board like member. The electrical conductors are positioned along at least one side of an opening which extends along the connector member and which is adapted to receive a second printed circuit board like member having electrical circuitry thereon.
