  • Patent number: 5369833
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a chain for use in a street sweeper in conveying dirt swept from the street along an inclined surface to a hopper for later disposal. Flights for conveying the dirt along the inclined surface are easily attached to the chain. The chain is of an offset configuration and is run open end forward. The offset configuration run open end forward results in less chain and sprocket wear than prior art straight sidebar configurations. Chain components are carbonitrided for high hardness. The distance the flights can be pivoted from the surface they contact is limited by strategic location of flight attachment portions of sidebars. Assembly is simplified.

  • Patent number: 5222920
Abstract: A chain equipped with rollers and including roller joint sealing arrangements each comprising the provision of complementary sets of annular grooves in the end faces of a roller and in the inwardly facing surfaces of the sidebars of the roller chain. An annular seal member is loosely seated in each complementary set of grooves to form a labyrinth type seal to prevent lubricant efflux from the roller joint and contaminant influx into the roller joint to improve the wear characteristics of the roller joint.

  • Patent number: 5188214
Abstract: A multi-roller conveyor includes a plurality of idler rollers journaled for rotation around individual, stationary shafts. Each roller includes, at each of its ends, a metal end plate and an end bearing, received in the end plate, for rotatably supporting the roller relative to the shaft. To protect against the entry of contaminants, an end seal assembly, including an inner seal member mounted to the roller, and an outer seal member, mounted to the stationary shaft, is provided at each end of the roller. The inner and outer seal members are formed of molded plastic and co-operate with each other, and with the roller end plate, to form a labyrinth-like passageway leading from the end bearing to the exterior of the roller. The outer seal further includes a metallic nut for facilitating mounting to the stationary shaft.

  • Patent number: 5165522
Abstract: A collector flight attachment link configured to have increased torsional load bearing ability and for supporting a collector flight on a chain including a plurality of interconnected chain links. The collector flight attachment link comprises an elongated lower link portion adapted to be interconnected with adjacent chain links in the chain. The flight attachment link also comprises a cantilevered collector flight support portion projecting upwardly from the lower link portion and including a paddle plate extending transversely to the link portion and having spaced apart first and second plate sections interconnected at their upper ends by a web section. Stress relief notches are provided between the lower edges of the paddle plate and the lower link portion.

  • Patent number: 4682687
Abstract: A conveyor chain of the type comprising a plurality of pintle links and a plurality of pins connecting the links together. The pins have a first end which is necked-down and has a noncylindrical cross-section so as to resist rotation relative to the link, and the second end of the pin is knurled to limit axial movement.
