  • Publication number: 20130100983
Abstract: A time and temperature duration indicator facilitates eradicating of pests. The invention contemplates a temperature sensor including a material that changes color when the desired temperature is achieved. The color change allows one to view a colored spot. A wax may be employed that melts at the desired temperature and provided in sufficient quantity that complete melting indicates the desired temperature and duration have been achieved. In another embodiment, a temperature sensor sends a signal to a computer/timer. When the signal indicates that the desired temperature has been achieved, the computer starts a timer. When the timer indicates to the computer that the desired temperature has been maintained for the desired time interval, the computer activates an indicator. Several embodiments are contemplated for holding the inventive device at a desired location. Methods of operation are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050288793
Abstract: An acetabular cup assembly for a prosthetic hip joint includes an outer shell for attachment to the acetabulum. The outer shell has an inner surface receiving a bearing insert portion. Complimentary coupling features are provided on the inner surface of the outer shell and the outer surface of the bearing insert for coupling the bearing insert to the outer shell. A plurality of adaptors are provided having an outer surface for engaging an inner surface of the outer shell and having an inner surface for receiving the bearing insert. Each adaptor has at least one radial extending strap or flange for engaging the bone surrounding the acetabulum. The straps or flanges may be of different sizes and shapes and may be at different locations on the adapter. The inner surface of the adaptor includes the same coupling features as the shell so as to be able to receive a bearing insert.

  • Patent number: 6447515
Abstract: The present invention contemplates use of a resorbable ceramic or other material inserted into a special container, the outer dimensions of which may be adjusted during insertion to provide firm fixation of a fracture. The special container consists of two spaced plugs connected together with a flexible boot and including actuator means allowing adjustment of the spacing between the plugs. The volume enclosed within the plugs and boot is filled with the resorbable ceramic material. As the actuator means moves the plugs toward one another, the material is squeezed and tends to expand radially outwardly, stretching the boot and increasing the outer diameter of the special container to wedge and fixate the container in the desired position within the location of the fracture. In the preferred embodiments of the present invention, all of the components of the special container are bioresorbable.
