Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a surgical device including an adapter assembly for selectively interconnecting an end effector and the device housing. The adapter assembly includes at least one drive converter assembly that converts and transmits a rotation of the rotatable drive shaft to an axial translation of at least one axially translatable drive member of the end effector. A first drive converter assembly includes a first drive element, a nut, an articulation sleeve, an articulation bearing, and an articulation link. Rotation of the rotatable drive shaft results in rotation of the first drive element. Rotation of the first drive element results in axial translation of the nut, the articulation sleeve, the articulation bearing, the articulation link, and the at least one axially translatable drive member of the end effector.

  • Patent number: 11197665
Abstract: A needle reload device includes a loading assembly including a needle holder pulley and a needle release arm. The needle holder pulley includes a base including first and second portions configured to receive a needle. The needle release arm is transitionable between an engaged state, in which the needle release arm engages the needle holder pulley to inhibit rotation of the needle holder pulley, and a disengaged state, in which the needle release arm is disengaged from the needle holder pulley such that the needle holder pulley is rotatable. When the needle release arm is in the engaged state, the first portion of the needle holder pulley is positioned between jaws of a stitching device, and when the needle release arm is in the disengage state, the second portion of the base of the needle holder pulley is positioned between the jaws.

  • Publication number: 20210298779
Abstract: A surgical grasper includes an articulation assembly configured to enable a tool assembly to pivot in a first plane and articulate in a second plane orthogonal to the first plane. The surgical grasper eliminates the center line pivot joint used in conventional articulation mechanism, which, in turn, enables use of thicker cable that provides greater clamping force of first and second jaws of the tool assembly.

  • Publication number: 20210290390
Abstract: A system for treating valvular regurgitation in a heart valve includes a flexible canopy and an elongated tether including an elastic portion and an inelastic portion. When the system is in a deployed configuration, a proximal end of the flexible canopy is coupled to an annulus of the heart valve and a distal end of the elongated tether is coupled to a ventricle. The flexible canopy is configured to overlay a first native leaflet of the heart valve, and tension on the elongated tether is applied and/or adjusted to prevent the first leaflet from prolapsing, to maximize coaptation of the flexible canopy with a second native leaflet of the heart valve, and to minimize regurgitation of the heart valve.

  • Publication number: 20210290228
Abstract: A handle assembly includes a trigger assembly, a motor, and a drive assembly. The trigger assembly includes a trigger, a head portion, and a deflection member interconnecting the trigger and the head portion such that a load applied to the trigger causes the deflection member to flex to define a gap between the trigger and the head portion. The motor is configured to be activated based on a size of gap defined by the trigger and the head portion. The drive assembly includes a clamping gear, a firing gear assembly, a drive gear, and a rack. When a button of the trigger assembly engages the clamping gear, actuation of the trigger advances the rack by a first distance, and when the button engages the firing gear assembly, actuation of the trigger advances the rack by a second distance greater than the first distance.

  • Publication number: 20210259694
Abstract: A surgical stapling device includes an anvil assembly and a reload assembly that includes a knife and a knife carrier. The knife is releasably coupled to the knife carrier and is embedded in a cut ring of the anvil assembly when the stapling device is fired. The knife is separable from the knife carrier upon application of a predetermined force on the knife. • Patent number: 11096683
Abstract: An endoscopic stitching device includes an actuation shaft, a tool assembly, and a drive assembly. The tool assembly includes a suture needle and a pair of jaws transitionable between open and closed positions. Each jaw includes a needle engaging blade slidably supported thereon. Each needle engaging blade is transitionable between an extended position in which the needle engaging blade engages the suture needle and a retracted position in which the needle engaging blade is disengaged from the suture needle. The drive assembly includes first, second, and third electrical actuators. The first actuator is operatively coupled with the actuation shaft to cause axial displacement of the actuation shaft. The axial displacement of the actuation shaft causes opening and closing of the pair of jaws. The second and third actuators are operatively coupled with the needle engaging blades to provide axial displacement of the needle engaging blades.
