  • Patent number: 10251979
Abstract: The present invention concerns an implantable access device and a method for preparing the device. According to the invention the device comprises a shape memory base structure with a biological substructure suitable for cell adhesion, cell engraftment and proliferation for use in transferring and transporting fluid mixtures (blood, suspensions, drug formulations, emulsions, cell suspensions) in/into/out of a human or animal body.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 2006
Date of Patent: April 9, 2019
    Assignee: GAMBRO LUNDIA AB
Inventors: Andrea Schnell, Bernd Wittner, Claudia Hildwein, Ruth Dietrich, Reinhold Deppisch, Doris Deppisch, Werner Beck
  • Patent number: 8821906
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a biocompatible polymer composition for an article comprising a surface intended to contact blood, tissue, skin, epithelial layers, wounds, cells in culture fluids, body fluids, dialysis fluids, therapeutic fluids, or mixtures thereof for removal or infusion. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of an article comprising the biocompatible polymer composition and a use thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 24, 2004
Date of Patent: September 2, 2014
    Assignee: Gambro Lundia AB
Inventors: Reinhold Deppisch, Ruth Dietrich, Werner Beck, Andrea Schnell, Bernd Wittner
  • Patent number: 8454564
Abstract: A device for applying a lock solution in a catheter or other access system comprises a syringe (302) having an expulsion arrangement (305, 311) for expelling the lock solution from the device, said expulsion arrangement including a plunger (305) arranged in a housing (304), further comprising a sterile connector (303) for connecting the syringe (302) to the catheter. The connector (303) is arranged to engage a tip (307) of the expulsion arrangement (305, 311) tightly when the syringe (302) is inserted in the connector (303). The connector (303) is arranged to prevent the tip (307) of the expulsion arrangement (305, 311) from entering the catheter. The tip (307) is frangible. A method of applying a lock solution in a catheter or other access system is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6841255
Abstract: The present invention includes a co-polymer film which can be applied over a surface of an article to form a continuous surface that is more biocompatible and has a smoother surface morphology than an untreated article. In general the co-polymer film of the invention can be formed by providing a hydrophobic polymer block, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with functional —OH end groups and reacting the —OH ends with a conventional monomer or prepolymer of a film-forming polymer capable of reacting with —OH groups. Such reactions are exemplified, using as reactive PDMS a triblock copolymer of the polylactone-polysiloxane-polylactone (PL-PDMS-PL) type, or silicone polyesters. The —OH groups of the polylactone blocks can react with any of a variety of isocyanates in a suitable solvent to form a polymer having PDMS incorporated with its structure.
