At least one remote agent on a network is detected by the web service by retrieving agent metadata from network devices based on one or more detection parameters. Abstract: A method for discovering remote agents includes providing at least one web service. At least one remote agent may be discovered based on the at least one web service. The at least one web service may include an agent metadata service and/or an agent managed object query service running on the one or more remote agents. The agent managed object query service may provide information regarding managed objects found on one or more remote agents and the results of the discovery may be displayed to a user.

Abstract: A method and system for monitoring a computer application, including selecting the computer application, inputting condition information, monitoring the computer application and generating an alert when a condition of the selected computer application satisfies the condition information. The monitoring step may be accomplished by inserting dynamic watchers into 1 byte code of the computer application that generates notification messages upon occurrence of certain events. The data included in the notification messages may be used to determine the value of selected parameters related to the computer application which is then compared to threshold levels input by the user as part of the condition information to determine a condition of the computer application. The alert is generated when the condition of the computer application indicates that there is a problem and that an alert is to be generated.

The method includes configuring recording, playback and analysis parameters, and recording control flow and server responses associated with the application. The method also includes replaying the control flow and comparing server responses to the replayed control flow to recorded server responses to determine whether an alert condition exists. The method further includes reporting the alert condition. Systems and articles of manufacture are also provided to implement the described methods.
